I see the marfa lights
within the ghost town
of the moonless sky
Are they the bullets
from the gunslingers
once shot from colt 45's
Is it the gunsmoke
within Texas
in the ghost town of yesterday?
Maybe Billy the Kid..Cassidy
or even Doc Holliday
the Sundance Kid
Jessie James..
and Johnny Ringo
fighting over
Calamity Jane..

Are the bullets
from Wyatt Earp
or is his spurs reflecting
in our eyes...
It is a mystery
within Texas
beneath our great
starry skies...
Is the marfa lights
within the ghosttown
of our imaginations?
Will they always be
the bullets from the
gunslingers in the west?

Reach high, for stars lie hidden in your soul.
Dream deep, for every dream precedes the goal.

You paint an interesting picture with this. I have never been to Texas nor seen these lights of which you speek. You have me wishing to see them and to ponder your quiries.

When you are old and grey and full of sleep,
And nodding by the fire, take down this book,
And slowly read, and dream of the soft look
Your eyes had once, and of their shodows deep;

How many loved your moments of glad grace,
And loved your beauty with love false or true,
But one man loved the pilgrim soul in you,
And loved the sorrows of your changing face...

Interesting poem Victoria thou I'll confess I don't know what "marfa" means.  One of my sons is in the Army and he recently transferred from Germany to Texas..these ghosttowns sound like an interesting outing for him...James
