    Alone Inside My Head

I want to be "alone with me"
   Is that so awfully bad?
I'm not depressed, I'm not upset ...
   I'm simply going mad!

I've lost her, see? She's fading fast,
   That little girl inside;
I have to make some time for her,
   If she's to stay alive.

For she is me, and I am her,
   Neglected both, we find;
For daily, we are drifting
   Out of sight, and out of mind!

I need a moment to reflect
   Alone, absorbed in thoughts;
Not entertaining someone else,
   Or caring for their wants.

A day away from all the stress
   My little world has known;
A bit of time to just reflect
   And simply be alone.

Some time to ponder what I will,
   No telephones or bells;
Some time to just be "me" again,
   A sojourn from this hell.

I care not if you understand
   This need I've been deprived;
I need a break, it's simply that ...
   If I am to survive.

So shuffle off, and leave me be
   Alone inside my head;
I need some time to think, you see?
   And talk to "me" instead!

/Kit McCallum

~Fred:  LOL ... not disturbing me at all Fred, it was meant for a few around the homefront, though I'm sure this is the only place I'll voice it! Thanks for the wonderful comment!

~Dark Angel:  I'm glad I'm not alone on this one ... seems a little selfish sometimes but aaaagggghhh! Thanks for enjoying and commiserating!

Much appreciation,
/Kit

kit-
   WOW!  Boy, can I relate to this.
   Been right there with you many
   times.  You have done an excellent
   job of conveying these feelings.
   And with that, I will leave you
   'alone inside your head'.

love ya,

One of those days???? Oh Kit, I think I've had one of those decades!!!!  This is just wonderful, it reminds of the many days I hear that "little girl," saying in her whiny voice, "I don't want to!"  Unfortunately, that voice comes from this so-called adult named......Bonnie   This is great!!!

Kit~
Retreat !  Retreat !
Find that place where they cannot follow -

I call it going to the meadow.

Ahhhhh ... serenity awaits ...

Yeah ... been there and found the little
girl waiting to fly kites ... so we did !

A needful write ... should be shared with
those on the homefront.
Love ya'

OK Kit, here's the deal. You give me space and I give you space. How's that?

P.S. Great poem.

When ready for a playdate with your inner child, I've found that "bubble therapy" works wonders.  Just get a jar of bubbles, head to the great outdoors (or even out your office window, as I do when the stress is too much) and BLOW!

Take me as I am or watch me as I go
