the ghosts have returned
the ghosts who were once friends
                                            relatives
                                                       childhood sweethearts

they have returned to to find that which they have lost. . . their lives. . . their souls

and in their returning, I feel their spirits running through my veins
shimmering in the light that is the dusk
pulsing in my mind

they stand before me and ask
"why have you sent us away?"
but I tell them that I have not sent them away
they themselves chose to leave. . . I always had a home for them
I would always take care of them
no,
   they chose to leave,
they ran away, thinking that they could do better on their own

they have returned

they stand before me and say
"you have hurt us. . . "
I tell them that perhaps I did. . . but that it was not my intention to do so
they don't really care,
all they know is that they were hurt, and they have come again
to find that which was taken from them

they have returned

they stand before me and say
"you will pay. . ."
and part of me fears them
and part of me does not
for though I would have feared them before
I do not now. . .
I welcome them
                I join them
                             I love them
they are the seekers, I am that which they have sought
the circle now complete, the ends now joined, the Gordian knot tied. . .

they have returned

they take me. . . and my soul screams. . . and my body is no longer my own
I am at their mercy. . . or are they at mine?
for in taking me, I have taken what is them
what was them
what will be them

and now together, we walk. . .
                                            we sing. . .
                                                             we seek. . .
we look for what is lost,
we look for what we find,
we seek for what is lost,
we seek for what we love. . .

they have returned. . . and I welcome them

welcome dear spirits,
                      welcome dear friends. . .
                                                    welcome
                                                    welcome
                                                    welcome

welcome home. . .

they
have
returned

Sven, that was intense. I liked the way you presented the idea of spirits coming back. Good work.

Wow Sven pretty freaky. Man I just hope none of mine come back. I don't think I'd be nearly a gracious as you, lol. Well done my friend.

What a wonderfully haunting feel to this Sven! As children so often come back to the nest ... so do the spirits and memories of loves and times past ... very nicely written!

I can't help what popped into my mind as I read this..."I see dead people." LOL

Was an eerie one Sven, as for me I think I'd be running and screaming. Great work!
