The Regretful Kitty-Kicker He use to be oblivious to all the snickers That devious and devout old kitty-kicker But there comes a time, there comes a line And you hear it when ol Long John whines “O my dear, my dear, please forgive me here and forgive me my tears, no, don’t try to cheer this wretched sailor, who once acted as a man but I just found our cat, there in the trash can.” And here sat his wife, in great stunned disbelief that Long John was acting out so much grief yes, indeed, the kitty was long since dead and Long John’s suffering was much to dread. “Oh Long John” his wife did bewail “please tell me the start of this tragic tale” “O my wife, I know not where to begin” and Long John spoke, indeed, with great chagrin. “Well” his voice trembled “it’s like this, I went out looking for something to do and I thought ‘heck, where’s a kitty or two’ as I thought some kitty-kicking I’d do.” As he spoke, he sobbed and heaved and his wife, well, she too became grieved “Oh Long John, it’s not your fault at all!” but ol’ Long John, didn’t hold his head up tall. “Oh but wife, my love, my dear, remember last night, I left for a beer? Well, I must’ve come home pretty drunk, ‘cause I thought I had run over a skunk.....” Karilea If I whisper, will you listen?...KRJ |

Karilea I'll tell you all about skunks - the only skunk I know is a female, and she writes so mean. Naturally, I'm gonna hafta at least give her a spanking just to let her know I think about these poems. You have been warned! |
