Beyond the Looking Glass

Beware the circus mirror glaze,
Where truth is warped ... perception hazed.

For 'tis the vision there beheld,
But one dimension, depth withheld?
What lies beyond the falsity,
Presented there for all to see?

Beyond the glass, reflected clear,
Are answers if you choose to peer;
For in it's panes, a mirror holds,
The hidden truths, as gaze unfolds.

Through eyes familiar, looking back,
Be not afraid ... do not drawback;
Beyond the false facade portrayed,
'Tis truth and wisdom to be weighed.

Seek low beneath the surface sheen,
To try discover ... dare to dream.

Yes, yes, Kit, we should always look a little closer than we really do!  Talking to a dreamer here!  Good one!

What terrific words of wisdom this one holds! This is a wonderful style for you, Kit.

You may fool the whole world
Down your pathway of years
And get pats on the back as you pass
But your final reward
Will be heartaches and tears
If you cheated the man in the glass.

Great poem.  We could all do to perform a little self analysis, and what better place to start then a mirror.

Even in the darkest night, someone will be there holding a candle for you.

This is great. I wish I would have thought of those first lines!!! Ok, the whole poem, but that just seemed so greedy to say!!! I really love it. Very nice work.

Now this is one for the books...and my library of course.  Not only is the cadence and flow perfect but the content is so deeply drawn on truth and taunts us to really look at who we are and those around us.  Excellent read and now placing on the shelf in my library where it will gather NO dust.  Loved it my friend.

This one is definitely one of your best. You can fool others but you can never fool yourself (at least not for very long)

Poetic perfection here

A lot of thought below the surface of our reflection ... there is a whole other side that we seldom take the time to notice

Kit
A wonderful verse, simply perfect in every way. Though I could never have written this, I'm proud of you, my twin. Mark said it best.

WOW! I'm way behind saying thanks to everyone ... sorry!

~Karilea:  From one dreamer to another ... thank you for these sweet words Karilea, I really appreciate you!

~Balladeer:  I'm glad you enjoyed this style on me Michael ... your poetic response was positively perfect, and summed these thoughts up so poignantly ... wonderful! Thank you!

~Der Keit:  Thank you for these words ... I sometimes do a little "too" much self-analysis Der Keit, LOL!

~Seraphin:  ROFL ... thanks so much seraphin, I loved your comment!

~Mark:  Thank you so much for the comment on the flow Mark, I love to know it reads well in that fashion, and am more than pleased to be on your shelf!

~Vicky:  You're welcome Vicky, and thanks so much for enjoying and commenting!

~Jeffrey:  Thanks so much for the "poetic perfection" Jeffrey, sigh ... it's true we can't fool ourselves for long!

~English Rose:  Thank you so much for the "awesome" english Rose ... I very much appreciate you reading!

~Irish Rose:  I'm so glad you enjoyed Irish Rose ... it's nice to know it holds some truths for all ...

~Debbie:  Oh, I love it when someone says "thought-provoking" Debbie, that does mean a lot to me ... thanks so much!

~Maureen:  Thank you for enjoying the tempo and phrasing Maureen ... I very much appreciate these wonderful words!

~Rex:  So much below the surface is so true ... like looking into a pond (thought you might like that analogy), there's a whole other world unfolding beneath the surface ... thanks so much Rex!

~Liz:  My dear twin, you could and have, written this and more ... thank you so much for these heartening words, you know I very much appreciate them!

~Tracie:  Thank you so much for the "treasure" Tracie, indeed, looking into the glass is like finding a buried treasure sometimes!

~Denise:  I'm always so glad when you stop in Denise ... thanks so much for the "excellent" my friend!

~Ruth:  Oh, I loved Alice in Wonderland too Ruth ... I'm glad I didn't disappoint, and thank you very much for the applause!

~Janet Marie:  It's so good to have you here JM ... and thanks so much for commenting on so many facets, I just love to hear your vantage as always! And you know I loved the later-gator ... thanks JM!

~Marsha:  Oh Marsha, thanks so very much ... this means a great deal to me, I'm very grateful for these kind words!

With much appreciation to all,
/Kit

Reflections of truth unfold -
if we look beyond the image into the soul.

Thanks for sharing this lovely, thought-provoking piece.
