upon ears fresh ...

the ages of passing
along to a daughter's ear
grow remorse-conjured words
of light and dark
as her heart's lobes tweak
upon her mother's voice

sinking deep into her soul
planted as a well-sown seed
to flower upon another birth
her tears of joy and sorrow
water the plant of experience
rooted in her blood's soil

she keeps warmth close
to the nurturing infant words
away from a cold chill's
lurking frozen fingers
at bay from a mold ridden
absence of living breath

as adolescence arrives
at its hurriedly sped pace
the daughter's seeded secret
sprouts green-fresh understanding
but the flowering waits
for an elder season's call

upon her own birthing bed
she sees the tree of shoots
ready to spring life forth
her wait nearly complete
but without fruit to pick
she wastes her empty blossoms

a daughter's daughter comes
to the age of passing
her light of life dimmed
by a lengthy stay's dashing
finally her words fall
from her lips like honey

upon ears fresh to the listening

Yesterday is ash, tomorrow is smoke; only today does the fire burn.

JP ... not sure exactly what you're saying, but i guess i appreciate it ... thanks for reading ...

serenity ... thanks for the kind words ... taking a break from posting work anywhere does a body good ... there are plenty of great boards out there and even more competition ... i'm trying to control my postings and keep my work fresh ... thanks again ...
