I slip into the darkness
the wet of tears
and out again and back
I feel it coming
static has hit reality’s connection
and I lost it
the trust is broken
the real world has let me go
and I don’t know how you lose
a skill but surely mine is defective
focus is gone
no...blink
something tells me to blink it away
and so I blink
blink hard and throw my tears
to the wind
and dry my hair
with a tissue
no wait, I think its the other way around
it doesn’t matter
I guess
somehow someway today
I got it back
my slipping grasping fingers caught hold
and the darkness didn’t win
my skittering and sparking
has ceased
my hands are firmly placed
on the wheel
and the car in front of me
is brown and
I can once again deal with
being alone with
me
some days though
are not this
good

================
aint it the truth ...
great expressions of the frustration
and realizations we go thru when we
have hearts on the mend
and dont it seem we do our best thinking
in the car...
reminds me of a song ...
great work here...

************
Can you roll down the window
Can I have a cigarette
Can I sweep you for forgiveness
Yeah
Can I sweep you for regret
And can you drive a little faster
To clear my head

Can you see that I've been crying
Well can you tell that I've been alone
Well can we walk the streets at the same Time
I don't mind at all
Oh ahhhh!!!

And I'll be quiet and no one will know
And can you drive a little faster Yeah
Yeah take me home

These are the days that make up the Lifetimes
And these are the clothes
The clothes that I wear
Yeah
And this is the only thing I wanted more Than anthying
Cause

Well I wanna fall at a million miles an Hour with people and little picture radios And I'm smiling but I'm trying hard not to Smile at all
At all

And I crave for the little conversation
And the way you toss your hair back but you're beautiful and it suits me fine
Yes it suits me fine

Get out of rush hour and take it for a drive to the open world...roll down them windows and let nature do some of her best healing.  Wonderful write from top to bottom.  Excellent is more like it.

well I wasn't real happy with posting this, but had gone home for the day, wasn't feeling well on top of everthing else   and I was gonna let it go down in history, since it was too late to take it back    ..but then to come back to jm's and mark's responses...have to say thank you....yep mark a good drive in nature would certainly do me good...and yep jm, its that mirror thing again girl...had never heard that song, but reading it...its like you or me wrote it   thanks for taking the time to respond

You know, I really like the flow of this...the way the words fall down the page. In a sense writing can be like taking a drive to 'get away' - to get it all out.

Well sone with this piece...it rocks!

Drying your hair with tissues... an image that grabs. *S* The pain and confusion are vivid... This is powerful and well done!

severn, thankyou, I had thought this poem buried already...and thank you for complimenting the form and flow, poems like this are not easy and then when someone says they understand, it makes me sigh, to know that they are as sad as i was when i wrote this....so when i write one like this the best thing is to attack or compliment the style, which you did...thank you much

suthern...i know your heart and you have my sighs, my hugs and my thank you's
