intoxicated conversation
floats aimlessly in the air
bold and brazen
you speak
your words clever
and philisophical
opinionated slurs
of some old family values
morals skewed
conversation tires
only in your eyes--
as the fire in your head
wakes again
visible now
are the truths in your soul
no secrets witheld
they fill the space
between you and me
occassionally pitching knives
at faceless names
hopelessly, you claim
your spotlight
pickled in the moment...
speak to the moon, my friend;
even when i close my eyes
i hear you
your honesty intoxicates my soul...

Well, as I read this I had a totally different view of what was happening! I guess the word intoxicated made me think of someone who was drinking. A very good poem! Made me think.

Yep! Exactly what I was thinking!  Didn't think about the "drunk" part at all..."conversation" was the key to me...what can I say...wish I had written it. This is truth from the core.

Dee this is another of your awesome poems, how well you write them. So stand up straight and take your bows, and if you get tired from the repeated encores don't blame me! As if!!!

Dee - This flows wonderfully along, pushing me first this way, and then that.  I read it twice to catch the flow.  I must warn you, though.  When you post in here, DON'T WEAR SKIRTS!
