Listening to every heart

That Way, Supposedly

If it is going to be that way
the way of my heart
as emotions are tugged
and strained
even though phrases remain
loud in my head
alone in bed
of how it was supposed to be

you and me
now lost in time
seasons won’t be complete
lost all reason and rhyme
somehow we walked out
of the clime
that was to have kept us
close and secure
we thought it would endure
that way it was supposed to

the closeness is gone
and we were probably wrong
from the beginning
but wrapped it in cheer and grinning
we smiled through the days
and anguished through the nights
and I suppose it’ll be all right
if it’s supposed to
be that way.

I try to live one day at a time and accept that which is 'supposed to be'. But it isn't always easy, and this poem says it the best!
        Great writing here, lil' sis!

Karilea - This poem is very poignant and regretful.  I sincerely hope you aren't going through this.  On a more personal side.... I've read this poem several times now, and I still can't find anything in there about maybe keeping a rascally pirate on the side   *eyebrows wigglin'*  Have I missed something, or is this poem incomplete?  *puzzled expectant expression*

Sunshine...this is sad, yet so beautifully written.  It is so hard when we think something is supposed to be one way and it turns out that we were wrong.  I'm learning more and more everyday that we should just be thankful that we were able to love and learn from what happened.  I've been away for several weeks and have missed everyones beautifully written poetry.

Sometimes things dont work out the way we think they are supposed to.  Great poem.  I hope that sometime you find that for which you seek.

Time given chance and chance given time allows all the answers to your little rhyme
Tomorrows of now rest in verses little dance
as chance given time and time given chance

Hey ..... makes sense to me....but so does kissing a butterfly and roping tornados at the same time.LOL

I won't say it is sad cause that much is given.  I will say it has painted a vivid memory that I had thought I lost forever.  Believe it or not but I am grateful that you have written this wonderful tribute to it, even if it wasn't my memory you had in mind.     Thank you.  It is very beautifully written(yes I know this is a gramatical error but it says it nicely).     have a wonderful week knowing you have touched my heart ever so tenderly, in a way that has me remembering my hope.  Thanks again.
