i dont want to reach the stars--
i want to reach farther for you
high above the velvet canvas
that holds the milky moon...
i want to bring back
the smile of GOD for you
to warm you
HIS hands to hold you
HIS heart to embrace you
HIS body to shelter you
i want to reach high
and bring back the
greatest comfort
to keep you
in those times
when i humanly fail you--
i want to do right by you
my child
while teaching you
how to do right--
be patient with me little one
i'm learning too...

dg,

What a beautiful prayer for your child; you should frame this and give it to her as a present when she is older. Very well done.

With this, I doubt you are failing in any sense. These words demonstrate the deep love and affection in oh, such a beautiful verse

as a mother, I have the same wish
and I think that your poem will be a great gift for your child to hang it on the wall.
I can see your love and care in this little poem.

DG~
this was precious! a wonderful prayer for your child. we all are "learning"...and will continue to make mistakes along the way. But your love for your child and God are overflowing in this piece. beautiful poem and i look forward to reading more of your work.

How precious.  This brought tears to my eyes, remembering mine when they were so small, and it's been about 20 years since I held one as small as the one in your lovely picture.  Thank you for sharing this with all of us.
