What the Sun Saw

There you stand, under sun so rare
surveying the land within your care
your head tilts to the meadowlark
press on with work before the dark

I bring to you a small repast
to tide you through the noon
I lay slight hand upon bronzed arm
and a wink of promises, soon.

Before I leave, I kiss your brow
taste your salt of soul 'pon my lips
you ask for the promise to be, now
but my smile is all you sip.

at the hour of four o'clock
I come to take you in
instead you catch me by the arm
with taut hand, caress my chin

                                        Laying palm upon your face
you take me in your strong embrace
my head comes to your chest so strong
we are where we both belong

Gently now you lay me down
          upon broam and Indian grass
and there below the autumn sun
                              the remaining day shall pass

Karilea, what a piece! (And on a Sunday morning!!) I enjoyed it much, though!

Karilea - this is very sweet.  Love in the afternoon sun, on the grass.  How this reminds me of love in the summer sun.

Love like this in any season would be to take up the Autumn in passion's purity. What a wonderful vision I get from this.  Now I know how I want my tomorrows to be spent.
