CONTROVERSY

by

Garfield

We can ask what is innocence,
and ponder that for some time.
We can also ask what is sin,
something every man has
dabbled in.

We can tell a lie,
and we can hide it for years.
But only in the long run,
Does this lie fuel tears.

Emotionally upset;
Fury and heartbreak behind those eyes,
wondering if someone can answer your questions,
wondering if someone can tell you why.

Ironically,
something that was suppose to be
your blanket, your security,
failed as a little white tale,
emerged from the closet
reaking havoc, causing hell.

Now you,
With your arm drawn back,
aiming to cast the first stone.
Stop!!! You know you can't do that,
because honesty you haven't shown.

Very true. Sometimes we have to find out the hard way that things are not what they seem.

Wonderful Garfield! There is much wisdom in these words ... so many actions or words can come back to haunt you when you least expect it, thinking long buried. Beautifully expressed, I enjoyed this!

Best wishes,
/Kit

Elizabeth,
Thank you for taking the time to read this one.  I'm so glad that you responded.  Through associates and myself, I've found out that a lesson learned the hard way is one that is not easily forgotton.  You then think twice before opening your mouth to cast any "stones" because of your own experience.  Sometimes it's better to offer friendly advice rather than add "fuel to the fire."

Thanks for taking the time to read and responding.  And you are right; this does ring true for many of us as we can criticize others when we have done the same thing/s ourselves.

Kit
It's always nice to see a response from you.  Thanks for taking the time to read this one.  I glad you liked this.  I often hear people talk about skeltons in the closet, and I just thought that I would try to express this in a poem.
Again thanks for stopping by and your kind comments.

GGRN~
What a little gem of wisdom you've penned here.

My grandmother said,
'there's no such thing as a white lie.
She said they all were the 'color of the fires tended by Satan.'

You can believe me when I say - I believed her !

Thanks Marge for reading and your bit of wisdom from your grandmother and I repeat, "There's no such thing as a white lie.  They were all the Color of the fires tended by Satan."
I believe Satan is having a cookout
and fanning the coals. (white hot).
And the bones keep dropping off his
table; in and out of our closets.

Thank you for your kind comments and for stopping by to read.  Glass houses huh.  I've never heard it phrased this way.  We get things kinda late here in Georgia.
