In the space between moments

A butterfly held by gentle breeze,
Bathed in twinkling dew
Sets forth upon a sunlit journey,
Sprayed in saffron hues.

Tiny wings stretched to the sky,
Kissed with innocence
A childhood of mild flights
In springtime’s lucid bliss.

Among the primrose, softly laid
‘Pon a carpet velvet green
Drifts her spirit merrily
For nightfall is unseen...

Maturity comes with quiet grace
Beneath the Catalpa trees
As flitting through the summer air
She glides with peaceful ease.

Autumn floods with chilling breath,
Coating wings with ice
And through her form of frailty
The blades of cold do slice.

A broken soul now fading fast
As snowflakes softly weep,
For how can life resume again
Once caught in immortal sleep?

Hands of Light now hold her close
O’er the sheets of blazing white
And Eternity is brightly shown
In a butterfly spirit’s sight.

Krista,
this poem soars on the errant winds and is laid to rest so beautifully. Excellent.
