I saw deep inside you
deep in your soul
Your love like a spell
I had no control

So many years passed
and we stayed "best friends"
promising each other
that it would never end

You went far away
to become a Marine
I stayed by your side
and supported your dream

I did everything I could
to keep our friendship alive
I wrote every day
didn't mind the 8 hour drive

I expected nothing from you
you had all of my heart
then came the day
when it all fell apart

Five months old is the baby
the mother, no one I know
a one night stand you tell me
but how you love your daughter so

Then came the phone call
late the other night
Kelly told me the truth
nothing seemed right

You told her you loved her
you called her your best friend
you told her you would fight
for the friendship to never end

Funny how you think
that you know a person so well
but no matter the years
you never can tell

Your world has no truth
your heart doesn't care
You fed me your lies
now the pain I must bear

As time starts to pass
and love becomes hard to find
trust that my memory will haunt you
True love cannot be left behind

This is very well written ... I can only say that time will heal most things ... but there will always be a painful memory ... when true love finally finds you for ever ... you will rarely look back
Best wishes
Rex

And I hope it haunts him forever! This is a very emotional poem, and the ending wrapped it up perfectly.

You share the pain so fluidly. I share my passions so dreamly. I am here and you are here so we must support each other.

Lady I feel for you...it is sad to see love die...especially when you were so sincere..
You mentioned he went into the Marines...
this reminded me of the time when I joined the Army and was sent to Germany and I watched one after another receive dear John letters from their girlfriends...it was sad...there was one man that had dated his sweetheart all thru high school and he wrote to her everyday...he was much more sincere than some of the others...it took about nine months but he also received a dear John letter...sometimes life doesn't seem fair but life goes on and I hope that you will find someone that will stay close to you and true to you...James

This reminds me of the time that my husband and I were separated due to the Army.  He was in Korea and I was in TX. We keep the relationship going and got married later though.  I know it is hard and sometimes it falls apart.  I hope that you heal soon.

Love,
Lady

*winces*  Ouch...I'm sorry if this is based on a real event...I know how it feels..*hugs*    Very well done.

With a little piece of tomorrow,
You'll have to kiss yesterday goodbye.
Because today won't last forever,
And the past will only make you cry.

LL this is so well written, it will take a while but eventually you will rise. But until you do there's always the wonderful poetry on this site to help you along.
