The sleep of exhaustion claims me I wake up choked on my tears To face combatants of darkness Whose weapons are my own fears. I see the day that I held you And offered my heart and my life Now my arms reach to hold you Yours remain at your side. I hear us walking together Our laughter pealing like bells But then I'm deafened by silence You're laughing with someone else. I feel your hand gently stroking Promising with a sure touch But both bed and soul remain empty And I'm missing you so much. My hopes and dreams march before me Then I see myself through your eyes And my view is a void, nothing And that's when I realize I am living a nightmare. I can't escape knowing these things There'll be no respite from this hell When the alarm clock rings. |
