Taunting me with the lies you told
Reflections of vengeance my eyes behold
As I read the words you spoke in the past
Words from a mold you previously cast
"I love you" was all you needed to say
Stalking my heart like I was your prey
Deception foreshadows plans justified
Reality is you just plain lied
Friends to the end we did proclaim
Thoughts of you will not be the same
Feelings of hatred weigh on my mind
Memories of betrayal are all I find
Together was never further apart
Looking inside, searching my heart
Finding a way to see thru the lies
No care anymore for "how's?" and "why's?"
Truth will prevail as I discover
Your self-proclaimed love for another
Is merely a way to heal the pain
I realize now I loved you the same

the thing that stood out for me in this poem was the title... to juxtapose "truth" and "lies" was a superb use of language

the poem says so much about the author... in that i think it is sincerely written from the heart.... and that is a quality i very much admire in poetry

glad to have you with us AngelEyes... and i pray you soar!!!

~ all you can really ever expect out of life is a sincere apology and some decent poetry ~

angeleyes,
Welcome to passions.Great first post here, hope to see more.
Just a quick warning about a scallywag named Long John Ag. He'll try all manner of flattery to get your poetic secrets from you. Shhhh don't tell him anything
Be well

Dear Angel Eyes - Welcome to Passions in Poetry.  I am the head poet in here, and all the other poets share their innermost poetic secrets with me (so you can too).  Do not trust Balladeer or Toerag or any other male (except me of course *self-assured posturing*).  They are rascals and scalawags!  All of the women are wonderful, and it appears you will fit right in.  Do not read Kethry's response.  She is out to get me for no reason whatsoever!!!

As for your poem... very well written.  The lines flow smoothly and the thoughts progress very well from beginning to end.  I like the way you ended it, too.  I hope it isn't from personal experience.

As you can see by my poetry I have no secrets.  Or any specific style of writing.
