My daughter Nicole who is in her second year of college taking poetry classes wrote this about her boyfriend and I think it's very good so thought I would share it with you.

              Carefree Study
Stretched out on my dorm room's floor,
I open my book in expectation,
Pages cool at my fingertips,
Knowledge unfolding before me,
That I will later etch onto a bubbled page,

My mind stretches and it aches,
And soon, my eyelids gain weight
As pangs of hunger come, long before dinner.
I ignore these temptations, and I forcibly
Underline, highlight, and make notes
In the margin, my mind wanders-

To you, holding my hands, us lacing fingers,
Facing each other in carefree, summertime dance,
The grass tickling our bare feet.
You make me laugh, so much that I can't dance,
And now, there's no hope for learning,
ALL I need to know, I've already found.

I close my book in anticipation,
Willing the phone beside me to ring,
As I begin to pour out words to you,
On a notebook page.

Nicole-What a lovely passionate piece.  I remember these days and from experience all I can tell you is to never lose sight of it as you grow into the world.  Don't become too lost in the rat race.  It will always be there for you anyway.

I'll make sure to tell her that Mark, I know sometimes I get caught up in that rat race and man I wish for lazy hazy dreamy days!

I think this is very good. Paints a picture of days of school when life was books, books, and more books, yet carefree, from just being young.
Very nicely written.

thx Ethan and jmlee I just think it's so beautiful, I just had to share with everyone.
If you could see her and her boyfriend it's so adorable. I love to see my daughter so happy.
