812 miles between
   your heart and mine
Miles that ache
   with such loneliness
But today I put
   those miles behind me
2 1/2 minutes at a time.

Each song that plays
   each voice that sings
Brings brings me 2 1/2 minutes
   closer to you
Please Mr D.J. play the
   next song
So I can be 2 1/2 minutes
   closer to you

Ive waited for this
   day for so long
To hold you in my arms
   not my mind
And today I will make
   my dreams happen
2 1/2 minutes at a time

So sing the next song
   play the next tune
Bring me 2 1/2 minutes
   closer to you
Please Mr. D.J. another
   number one song
To take me 2 1/2 minutes
   further on my way

It may seem a long
   lonely journey
2 1/2 minutes at a time
But you are there at
   the end of each song
And I will get there
   2 1/2 minutes at a time

So play on Mr. D.J.
   play the miles away
And sing to my love
   that Im coming
2 1/2 minutes at a time

I love your poem.  I have felt the same anticipation many times before.  Just 2 1/2 minutes at a time.  Great Job.

very cool poem girlie-girl ...
love the urgency in this ...
could feel it building ...
seems we are thinking poetically alike these days...
hitting the road ..chasing the ache
good to see ya back

Isn't it funny how so many miles between you seem to stretch endlessly... until you're on your way and anticipation makes a heart's melody that sings at a slightly faster pace than the radio so that suddenly, the miles have disappeared? *S* This is great... drive safely! *S*

Oh Paula, can I ever feel this one. I am on my way in a week, 3200 miles to see my someone special. Superb poem, cuts right to the point, in a lyrical way.
Loved it. Good luck with your journey.

Paula - what a great poem!  I can relate to using songs on the radio to demarcate a long journey home.  You addressed this perfectly.  Much like the song, "Eighteen Wheels and a Dozen Roses."

Paula, was just about to go looking for you!

This one is nice, describes that "faraway yearning place" so perfectly!

(and I'm very impressed with the last two lines, *winks*)  Hugs and smiles, Paula...

Paula I Loved this. I have 27 days and about 600 miles before I see my special someone again. I wish you safe travel.
