Just a brief word of explanation. This is not a poem so much as a mutilated song. It goes to the tune of I Started a Joke-Bee Gees. Hope you like it, it's by way of apology.

I started a spree
That started the whole place laughing
Oh but I didn't see
That the laugh's not for me

I started a trial
That started the whole place thinking
It was fine for a while
But became a great trial

I, sought comfort in sighs
Running my mouth over the lies
And I wrote here at night
Causing my friends to give up in fright

I started a trend
That started the whole place talking
The words had no end
It was such a long trend

So I started to cry
That started the whole place sighing
And I wonder why,
Why I started to cry

I, found friendship's strong ties
Running to hide in the shade of their highs
And I, poured out my heart
Living my life and wanting to start

Till I started a war
That started the whole place choosing
On what's gone before
There's no winners in war

Aaawww! There's no winners in war.

Never heard of the song. But your words, mutilated or otherwise, are very true.

Hey there, Kethry (Xena), Princess of War - whatta ya talking about?  There ain't no war - just a lot of people who want your skin!  lol - Don't you go crying, now.  This is still one very tight community, and we ain't the warrior types.  So come over here and sit on my lap while I rub your back *wink wink*.

hugs to you

I don't know about mutilated, this is a brilliant poem. I would praise it to the skies but how will I respond to you next brilliant work. So I'll just say

Good
   Better
        Best
           You may now rest
       because your good is better,
       and your better is best.

I really like the song
and like your poem even
more.

Well....I remember that one almost too well!!  But I love the way you wrote this in parody!! Weird Al has made a fortune doing this....ever thought of it as a career, my friend? (I have.....)
                Great job here!!

Thanks, I think living in Australia helps with the memory, so you needn't reveal youe age at all.
