I wander
frequently down these halls
searching
for something I feel I've lost
something
I know I left here
somewhere
inside a locker
or under the stairs...

Maybe I left it
in gym class or history
or maybe in drama
or on the football field...

I don't know when or where
I lost it
but somewhere along the lines
I lost my innocence...
can you help me find it?

I think I found it!!!! Go to the mirror and look....What do you see? Thats where it is, inside you....we all still have it deep down in there somewhere.
Man, I am one to talk....lol...I had better go look at myself and remember what I just told you.

yeah..that innocence...once its gone..its hard to find again..you have children?  thats where the innocence is..follow the children..do what they do..look at things from their level...you'll find it   (and for you, that mirror thing might work...you do have an innocent face...  )

I don't think innocence is retrievable, but I would help you look for it if you persisted anyway.  I enjoyed this poem because it is a very familiar feeling. Once....

I am many.

ChrisG~
This is a very good piece.
Innocence sneaks away from us ...
or was it really ever there ?
I enjoy your musings of the night.

Chris

I wrote a poem titled "What is Innocence" and I included some things that I thought symbolized innocence.  But after reading your poem, I feel that all our innocence was lost somewhere during our teenage years.  The only way to locate it is through reminiscing.  Hopefully our memories are joyful of that time of innocence lost.< !signature-->

Chris, a poem of a question that one ponders their whole life perhaps and yet inside our hearts resides the breath of innocence one pure and kind enduring a lifetime

A pleasure to read this poem you write
Thank you

This is excellent...Seems this moment comes
and when you realize your innocence is lost
and as desperately as you would like to know
when and where you left it behind...you
never truly know...perhaps many moments combined...You've given me pause
to ponder...thank you!! Superb writing~

Your poetic search for innocence lost is well expressed in this piece. How easily and unassumingly the loss of innocence can befall us, leaving us confused and unclear as to how it even escaped ... very effective in your message, I believe.  Thank you for an insightful read ~

Nicely written..that is what is so beautiful about a baby..the innocence..but we are not babies anymore...are we?

Some of US still are Victoria...infants that is...  still new to life, new to love, new to emotions, and new to the cruelty that the world can send to us and new to the beauty of the earth and all things on it...

as time slips away and steals from us the innocence of our youth we can still remain as infants and enjoy the discovery of all that is new and untouched in our worlds....adn possibly still reclaim some of that innocence even if only for a little while...

thank you all for the wonderful responses...i've been gone a while, for reasons I can't explain...  but i hope to return soon with more new insightful work for everyone to enjoy...

thanks again..

chris

ah, just remember thoughts and feelings from your youth and search for them. it's where innocence prevails delightful piece

Sometimes you have to let go and move on,
But never let go of the memories.
