~Paint Me Blue~

He looks at her and he comes alive,
she is his reason, his will to survive.
She is all he needs and that's just a fact,
and I used to know what it was like ... to be loved like that.

I see the couples out together in the summers night ...
holding hands and talking in whispers by candle light.
I see the anticipation and promise in their eyes,
and I remember what love feels like ... before it quietly fades and dies.

I watch the way he holds her so close when they embrace in a slow dance...
the way they touch and become one in that gentle moment of romance.
The way their eyes say it all as they speak from with in,
and I recall the way that it all felt ... and I wonder if I'll ever know it again.

He writes her the most beautiful poems anyone has ever read,
he gives her all his heart ... he leaves not a single word unsaid.
He pledges undying love ... promises fate and destiny,
God I'd give anything to have someone feel that way again about me.

And I wonder which is easier on a lonely persons heart ...
is it better to lose love ... or simply to never have it start.
Would I still feel this empty ... if love had never come my way,
or does this ache only come from realizing that its gone to stay.

The old saying "you don't know what you got till its gone"... seems to be true,
all I know is a die a little more every day since I lost sight of you.
They also say "even a bad love is better than no love at all" ...
but my bruised heart wants to disagree ... its so damn tired of the fall.

I don't have the answers ... I don't know the secret verse,
all I know is every day without you is like living with a curse.
I'm tired of being alone with no one to hold me ...
and it's a one sided night of passion  ... making love to your memory.

As I hold the gifts you gave me ... baptized in your scent ...
I remember your voice and all the things that we meant.
I'm so scared that time will steal this and the essence will fade,
and I know to touch you just once more ... my soul I would trade.

I promised you I wouldn't become this sad or this lost,
and I'm sorry ... but being loved by you was worth any cost.
Something's we just don't get over ... so just paint me blue ...
there will always be a part of my heart missing ... as it will always belong to you.

For DeVante' ... always

JanetMarie~
My friend, this is one of the most heartfelt poems I have ever read.  You put your haert and soul into this one, girl.  I love it.  There is one thing that I believ though, and it answers one of your questions:

And I wonder which is easier on a lonely persons heart ...
is it better to lose love ... or simply to never have it start

I have to say that it would be to lose it ...  I was listening to a song by Billie Myers the other day, and I think she said it best:

"I would rather feel the pain, than feel nothing at all."

I remember what I felt like when I lost love a couple of years ago, and for months, I was numb inside.  That is a feeling that I can't stand.  Even if I am hurting, at least I know I'm still alive.  And if I am alive, then I have another chance at love........

Love Ya~

and I am all the better for it~

When someone is at your side, your world is full of wonder... when they're gone, the wondering batters and bruises. I feel as though you wrung the tears from my pillow... this hurts that much. But it is very well done...

Yea you!  Here's a music quote for you, m'twin:

"I am a lonely painter,
I live in a box of paints.
I'm frightened by the devil,
and I'm drawn to those ones that ain't afraid..."

"I remember that time you told me,
you said love was touching souls--
surely you touched mine--
'cause part of you
pours out of me,
in these lines from time to time..."

"You're in my blood,
you're my Holy Wine...
You taste so bitter,
and so sweet...
Oh I could drink
a case of you,
and still stay on my feet..."

Joni Mitchell, "A Case of YOU", from PRACTICAL MAGICK

---and hey you, we're going to be fine, fine, fine...loved this one, as ya well know...HUGS...sneak me an e, will ya?

As I read this I again re-affirm my opinion that WITH him you write so differently...not J.M.'s way, not his way but together it is YOUR way....this one rips and cries but through and through it shows a love that never would have been there had you not loved at 110%...and that's the only way that love should be.  Love you for this one girlie....it's so tender and so full of the love that you held for him...how could you Not miss him...but in time the healing and the sunshine will be back with his memory..that it won't always bring with it the ache...until then...write baby...write~

Im sorry...I know this one is sadder than most of my poetry and I didnt mean to worry anyone..
and I love those of you who E-mailed to see if Im ok...
Im fine, I promise....this one just wrote itself
as do all my Vante' poems...
as many of you know I have been posting a series of "butterfly poems" about this special man ...
who touched my life briefly, but will be in my heart always...
i write to celebrate him...
this one came out a bit ~Bluer~ ...
but the end result is the same ..
he runs thru me and inspires me always.
I will reply to these sweet replies soon ...
I just wanted to let those concerned know Im fine.
love you me sweet gators
me

by request....I repost this one here to help those who dont know about him to understand
as I will continue to write about him always.
this was posted in the Voices on the Web.

~To Hold A Butterfly~

He said "Hold me before I go baby ...
and promise me you wont cry,"
so I held him like it was forever, and I promised ...
though we both knew it was a sweet lie.

He said "Love me while Im gone baby" ...
and thru my tears, all I could do was smile.
He had heard the angels calling his name ...
we both knew he only had a little while.

So I held him even closer ...
and I tried to quiet all his doubt.
I kissed away his tears that fell ...
from too many years of doing without.

I said "I will always love you baby,
this you already know."
Then he taught me how to hold on to love ...
while still learning to let go.

And I learned there are some wounds ...
that even love cant heal.
And I learned unconditional love ...
was gentle, genuine, and real.

I said "I don't just love you baby ...
I love you desperately."
This kind of love is forever ...
it is born of fate and destiny.

So we held each other tighter,
and we let not one single emotion go unspoken.
We learned this love was constant ...
this bond could not, would not ever be broken.

And I learned that this kind of love ...
could truly set a heart free.
And while I was loving him ...
he taught me ... how to love me.

Sometimes Fate grants you a gift ...
and it gives your life its destination.
And along the way ...
you find your self and your heart's inspiration.

Everything indeed ... happens for a reason ...
something's are simply and sweetly just ~meant to be~.
So I loved him like it was my last chance,
and when the time came ... I set my butterfly free.

Hi Janet,

Pure love is what I see and hear through this poem and I feel for you and your loss, but at the same time you seem to be so strong and wise, I will be thinking of you and send some prayers your way, blue is a magnificent color it is just how you preceive it.

Love, Cerenity

We who love with all we are and more -
feel more - are more exhilerated more - fly higher - and  crash with greater pain.
I feel secure in saying that what you felt (and are still feeling) - that is good -will remain with you - to be told to grandchildren
rigght along with the tales of how that next (and hopefully last) love came along - wormed its way into your heart, and while it did not supplant, filled you equally as well and made you glad you kept your heart open to another chance.  [[[hugs]]]

Janet,
I have never read anyone like you.......I am just stunned at these beautiful words I have just read. God, Janet, your heart is just so beautiful...I know this...having you in his life for whatever time it was, I am sure showed his heart many things as he showed yours. The beauty of love is you never have to stop loving only to find a way to keep living.......never stop "finding that way"....and if you do, look for all the lights in this world that are on for you and seek shelter in the one's that care for you...In my thoughts, (often)

I so enjoy "celebrating" your love for DeVante and though it is sad in your verse I know that the wholeness of you and of him lives on in your every essence.  It took awhile for you to get me to realize that this is a celebration of him and nothing more or less.  It is as he would want it to be and HE lives on in YOU and because of YOU and your desire to never let lose of what he was about and what the two of you had.  I love this one girl and I will continue to celebrate with you every day.

Janet--when you have loved as deeply as you have...that love stays in your heart forever..he will always be a part of you that nothing can change...Your poetry about him is so touching..because you spread your heart out for us to see, and it feels like we can see a part of you too intimate to view...I celebrate your beautiful heart and the love that I see there.  Thank you for sharing all that you do.  Many hugs to you, my friend.

Oh JM, this is such a sad poem. I know this feeling quite well. I can especally relate to this stanza:

"And I wonder which is easier on a lonely persons heart ...
is it better to lose love ... or simply to never have it start.
Would I still feel this empty ... if love had never come my way,
or does this ache only come from realizing that its gone to stay."

I hope writing this helped ease some of the aching of your heart. Love will come to you again, I'm sure. Just keep your eyes open. Best of luck!

Janet Marie, I could make this reply ten pages long and still not say all that I would want to say about this pair of poems. You have hit me in a place so hidden I'm sure you you couldn't know it but your arrow flew as true to the mark as if it had to be launched with unerring accuracy. I have always held you in great regard but you have now gone to a new level in my eyes. You, li'l gator, are something else!

Janet,

Hey there! Wow is it good to be back. You are one of the biggest reasons of my return to Passions. I have missed your writing terribly dear friend. And even though this is heartbreakingly sad, this is a perfect example why. Few works do I read that touch me with such depth or emotion. Like I have told you countless times you simply amaze me with your awesome ability. So here I am again...to learn even more from you. I am sorry I have been out of touch. But so much in my own personal life has been crazy. I needed a little time away from it all. I know you understand. Take care!
Love ya,
Amy

JM, I don't think I've ever been as impressed by a writer as I've been by you. Everytime! You make me want to cry or laugh, I can always identify with a piece of your poetry, as well as your heart. Honest, you are my favorite writer. God Bless the day I found Passions- I found my hero. Keep writing. Always.
P.S. Please take a look at my poem Asinine Elaboration, under 'God, Please don't let it always be this complicated' in this forum (Open Poetry #10) I really would like your opinion. I feel like I finally got something out, that I've been holding back for awhile. Just waiting for the right words!

Jm...I thought that I allready have read this one, and only came in to read it once again.....and I was suprised that I haven't seen it before....this wonderful expression of your feeling.....I am so glad that I came by, so that this one didn't fade away, without reading it.

(((warm hugs)))

This is so sad and sweet, yet I sometimes feel this way. love this one.

Sometimes you have to let go and move on,
But never let go of the memories.
