Weaving through the morning light,
a vagrant in the dawn,
the remnants of last nights dress,
is all that I have on,
Scraps of fabric draped like hands
cover my bared breast,
and though I try to remember
I don't know where the rest
of it has gone.
For I surely do not have it on.

I stop for a moment by a curb,
and sit tenderly on the ground,
I gather up my legs in my arms,
wrap them up all around,
And cradle the scratchy bruises,
with fingers banded in gold,
while perfectly painted pink nails,
caress the flesh gone cold
For the story is not new,
it is rather old.

I reflect upon the perfection,
the totality of the pain,
that pours down upon me,
like ribbons of stinging rain,
That washes away the remaining traces,
of makeup on my face,
and rinse them down my cheeks,
to land upon a place,
not covered
in utter disgrace.

And I wonder how this came to be,
how I allowed myself to go on,
how I came to accept and to embrace
something so clearly gone wrong.
Oblivious to the gasps and stares
of strangers that pass and look down,
upon my presence in the
morning light,
Just a vagrant left out in the dawn.

Woe, Seraphim,
you certainly know how to write. This passionate piece floored me and floored me again when I read it the second time. Brilliantly done.
Be well

Seraphin~
Oh my !  What depth found tucked in this one.

'the remnants of last nights dress,
is all that I have on'

I so enjoyed this.

wow.  This is a powerful piece...one of those "wish I could write like that" poems...

got my attention and my admiration with this tragic work.

Okay this one goes in my library.  The piece not only had a powerful content but the flow was superb and when read aloud becomes even alluring to find out what is next.  Lovely piece of writing.
