Justa Swingin

Stepping out into the midnight air...
Looking up into a heaven of stars...
Sitting under the big Oak tree...
In a swing made by your grandfather...

Sitting there pumping your legs...
To swing yourself back and forth...
Swinging yourself higher and higher...
First to the South
                 and then to the north...

Letting the cool air whisk through your hair...
Inhaling the fresh scents of a nice spring night...
Listening to the night come alive...
As you swing back and forth
         Left       then          Right...

Basking in the midnight utopia...
Looking up out into space...
Slowing you swing to a rock...
Watching a falling star vanish without a trace...

I glad this brought back memories.  I sure you have swung alot. You probably had a flower as you sat, stating he loves me, he loves me not. (just kidding)(big smile)
Thanks for stopping by to read. If it brought back memories, then it was worth the write.

GGRN~
What a memory-shaker this is.
I was raised in a house with a wrap-around porch ...
with a BIG swing ...
Oh, what fun I had.
It was my 'magic carpet' taking me wherever I desired.
Long before I knew what 'poetry' was ...
I sang my 'songs' swinging !

In my mother's back yard, my father built
her a free-standing 'porch' swing and on the board
across the top ... he routed out - Justa' Swingin'.
My favorite picture of her is one taken of her in that swing.
While she's no longer here ... this sure conjured up
memories of her joy in that swing.
Thank you so much for this.

As always, I so happy that you stopped by to read. And that visual you've just given me lets me know that this was worth the write. I so happy that this could bring back memories that were just stored away for awhile, but not forgotton.
Thanks for your kind words.  I really appreciated them.

Marge
Thank you for swinging this one back to the top.  I haven't posted in a while due to responding to other poets post.  But I plan to place another here this weekend.  Thanks again.

Serenity
I glad to know that you enjoyed this one.  Go sliding.  You know, my wife and I took one of our best wedding portraits from a slide.  I wish you could see it with her train falling down the latter and then flowing behind her as she took a slide.

EagleOne
Glad to see this one rekindled some memories for you.  I'll be you spent many nights on the porch swing holding that special friend close.
Thank you for your response.

All I had to do was sit in a swing and the higher I went the more vivid my imagination would be. Thanks for reminding me of a time when I had not a care in the world.

Thanks for responding.  We all have swung higher & higher imagining that we were airplanes, birds, or whatever.  A good ole swing will take you away from reality for a while, all you have to do is go back and forth.

hi Garfield

let just say that though i am turning 21 this year, i am not so grown up as to reject a good swing at the park every now and then....

i like it when you swing yourself to the maximum and then just jump down from the swing itself...always felt like some super hero
