*this is about, and dedicated to, alex, judy, and nick. thanks for the inspiration. if you'd all just change your points of view, those "mixed signals" make more sense than you think. enjoy*

*mixed signals*

Sometimes there's just no better way to say...
To describe all the dirty things on a beautiful day.

Is that girl sleeping beside you, tell me...
Is she the one?
Is it money, the looks, or drugs?
Or are you here just for the fun?
You said you are an executive,
but that's not the truth, now is it?
You sport nice suits and expensive shoes
but in fact you're just the assistant.
You've got a heart of gold deep down;
you just made few mistakes.
You're up to your neck in credit card debt;
snort a line and it all goes away.

All the pretty things we try to be.
The person deep down no one wants to see.
I can't express in any better way
the one real thing I have to say.
Call me a fake and say it's a lie,
but inside, my soul is about to die.

Life is so much at twenty-five years old.
Too young to be married; too old for alone.
You lead your fiancee around by his nose.
Accept his ring: Say yes; Say no.
A shivering answer that nobody knows.
"Better take him." "Better break him."
Or the door will close.
And your best friend says, "I'll love you always."
Will you go with him or you fiancee?
Try again with a friend,
or do you get engaged?
spark a cigarette and smoke it all away.

All the pretty things we try to be.
The person deep down no one wants to see.
I can't express in any better way
the one real thing I have to say.
Call me a fake and say it's a lie,
but inside, my soul is about to die.

You wanna tell the world the things on your mind.
Snickers and Laughter: the judgement you find.
Your writing, it has a whole lotta worth.
But you can't please the world with just one work.
You don't live to write, but you write to live.
Don't lie; Just try
You only get what you give.
You say, "Send the cynics to Satan and
Damn the critics to Hell."
But how can the world see your worth
when you can't see it in yourself?
The expression of your depression
comes in very simple way.
Your eye's are crying, your soul is dying.
one more shot and drink it all away.

All the pretty things we try to be.
The person deep down no one wants to see.
I can't express in any better way
the one real thing I have to say.
Call me a fake and say it's a lie,
but inside, my soul is about to die.

Sometimes there's just no better way to say...
To describe all dirty things on a beautiful day.

Everyone's got their demons.
We all got somethin' to atone for.

Ethan, this is some writing you've put forth...

So compelling the scenarios described and the 'mixed signals' as you say this is a good read my friend!

Great poem. I see where you are coming from. I especially enjoyed this lines. Call me a fake and say it's a lie,
but inside, my soul is about to die

Great work.

This is deep. Trying to drown or drug our sorrows away. And they go, but only momentarily!

To just be yourself, the best way to go.

so many times we tend to try to please everyone else, when pleasing ourselves will not only make us happy but make the other people we know happy as well. So as the old saying goes just be yourself. GREAT POEM
