Listen to the sound of nothing;
Sweat, quiet, it really is something.
This is the time of day I love best,
This is the time of day for peace, and rest.
Reality seams miles away;
When I sit here at the end of the day.
Clouds float by, and the water is still;
While I sit and ponder, “what is real?”

When I am dreaming; is it real?
Or are they scenes that I steal
From the day while I am awake.
Just the thought of this makes me shake.
What if we are someone’s lie,
Could I be gone in the blink of an eye?

Who says what is real, and what is fake?
Is life a risk that I want to take?
As I wonder, I look around.
Something is making a sound.
What on earth could it be?
Could it have been watching me?

I smell the distinct smell of spice;
And I must admit it smells nice.
I start to walk, and I look back;
But all I see out there is black;
The ground is damp with evening dew,
And the shallow lake looks inky blue.

The air blows cool on my skin,
And then I hear it again.
This time though, the sound is sweet.
It is the sound I hear each time we greet.
I know it is you and then I see
What I thought could never be.

You have that look, the same as I,
The one I wear when I gaze at the sky.
While I wonder, when I am alone,
On my face; I know it’s shone.
The look, I think, you’ve seen before.
It’s the one you tried to ignore.

But the look on your face gives it away,
Your eyes are no longer clouded gray.
You let your eyes grace the stars,
And it broke away the bars.
Now you know what it is like to be me;
What it is like to truly see.

To be great without vision,
Is to cause mass destruction.
In the end, you found I was right.
You opened your eyes, and saw the light.
Listen, with me, to the sound of nothing.
The evening is sure to tell you something.

This poet, my best friend, does not have access to the internet; however, I told her of this wonderful community and she asked me to submit three of her poems, this one and two others, which I have along with this same message.  I have set up an e-mail account for her, which I will check daily, incase there is anything you wish to communicate directly to her.  I will print out all replies and e-mails then deliver them to her.

The peace and quiet of "EVERYTHING" in silence shines in this piece as does the message it carries with it.  The eyes opening only as seen in the heart is so inspiring and your friends talent glows in these words.  Thank you for sharing her works with us and I say WELCOME TO HER as well as she IS now a part of the Passions family thanks to you.

Welcome my friend to Passions!

"What is the sound of one hand clapping?"  That came to mind when I saw the name of this poem. . . I see that you know. . .

Well done. . .
