Every time I see long legs,
Blonde hair, and eyes of blue…
My mind goes back to other times,
When I was holding you.
I know now that you loved me,
I know I was a fool…
I guess the things I’m going through’s
Like staying after school.

I recall when I was young-
The troubles that I had…
Miss Byrd would keep me after class,
Because I had been bad,
The laughter of my class-mates,
Through the window I could hear…
My lower lip would tremble,
And I’d wipe away the tears.

I’d have to go to summer school-
Because of failing grades,
I’d sit there in the classroom,
While the others swam and played…
I’ve found my problems are the same,
Each time I break the rules-
And now I suffer all alone,
Like staying after school.

How I miss your loving touch,
The way you smiled at me.
And all the places that we’d go,
The things that we would see…
I know the way I left you, dear-
Was thoughtless, and so cruel…
The pain which I’m enduring now’s
Like staying after school.

I can relate, 'slinger. They had my dunce cap bronzed after I graduated!

This is good work. Being punished for making wrong decisions is bad....but sitting at the window looking out at what one's missing is so much worse. Thanks for the thinker.
