A Chill

In near silence
Save the creaking
Of rotting wood,
The fog enshrouded boat
Lists, drifts,
No wind to fill up her sails,
A single lantern swings,
A lone sailor on watch,
No fog horn to his aid.

Taking on water, she is,
And unbeknownst to him,
A face, a silhouette,
has come aboard
for deliverance.

It must carry for miles,
The screaming.

Now the seagulls
Cover him,
Swooping,
Cawing
Devouring.

By the time he is found
Putrefying,
Unidentifiable
Fish food,
He who delivered
Sails solo,
Hungry again,
Searching lonely seas,
In Alaskan channels,
Where man
Befriends
Man.

Ship-wrecked sailor,
seeing life's deathly trailor,
Woes spread,
tragedy unfathomed,
desolate dread,
Lonely, battered,
Former fighter,
Devoured baiter.

Many a ship's battle he fought,
Now, its all come to naught,
All his glory is now laid waste,
Sea-gulls, vultures, suck life post-haste.

Busy-bodies from far and yonder,
Even sharks stay, await in wonder,
The solo musical performance of death,
Alaskan melancholy, frost-bites, a sorrowful wreath...

...........

Corinne, just see what you have inspired...
Never in this life had I imagined to write this one, and words just flowed right to the last word, is it good, maybe yes, maybe not, but then I don't care much, for I have seen a brilliant piece of poetry in front of me here....
Thanks for this one, Corinne...

Take Care and regards,
Sudhir.

My heart is pounding, my stomach's inside out
I'm feeling kind-a-shaky, my mind is full of doubt
All I ever think about, is fearing fear itself,
Wish I could unscrew my head and put it on the shelf
Everything is twisted, everything is oh so tight,
Don't know what I'm looking at, the lights are all too bright
My brain's about to crumble, spill out on the floor
Sweep 'em up. Throw 'em away, don't want 'em anymore
Clouds race across the sky, day turns into night,
Still there are the questions, no answers in sight
Everything is twisted, everything is oh so tight,
Starin' out the window, everything is just too bright
Brain's about to crumble, spill out on the floor,
Wish I could unscrew my head, and kick it out the door...
You know I'm feeling kind-a....Strange
You know I'm feeling kind-a....Strange

OKay.......I got the chills.....hehe  I got to stay away from the water    I like this very much

It takes only a minute to get a crush on someone, an hour to like someone, a day to love someone, but it takes a lifetime to forget someone.

Thank you, Sudhir!  If I've inspired you, then it was worth writing.  I think we should write about all kinds of topics, even those that are foreign to us, even if it makes us uncomfortable to do so.

Thanks again for your sweet words, and I loved you poem, post it separately, too, to make sure everyone here sees it, okay?

Thank you also, First_Knight!

Incredible! That something so streamlined could generate so many images for me.  Very powerful and haunting.

That one sent a shiver straight down my spine, very haunting. I am going to crawl under the table now and picture pretty things like sunsets and rabbits.

A wonderful poem, intense and haunting.
