A man stands on the street
His dreams forever shattered
His wife is dead, he feels so weak
Left with four kids, his heart badly tattered

She struggles each and everyday
With a pain she's had all her life
People stop and stare, the horrible things they say
Just because she is handicapped, the pain they cause twists like a knife

Some of us don't even wonder
Some of us don't even care
Why can't we accept each other
Or do we not know how?

Amazing how people still think color grants supremacy
Or that a disability means your weak
Why can't this world unite and find harmony
Love and peace is all that I seek

A old man forgotten by those he loves
In the nursing home he awaits his last days
Wishes he would die and be taken by the Lord to up above
My heart hangs heavy in so many ways

Some of us don't even wonder
Some of us don't even care
Why can't we accept each other
Or do we not know how?

I wish for this Earth a connection of the heart
Where people can just be without living with fears
We are all God's children, each came from the same start
Maybe one day the pain will stop, and so will all the tears.

I wanted to thank each and every single person at this forum who has ever posted a reply to my work, read my poems,or offered me a kind word. You ALL have touched my life in some way or another. Always and forever you will be a part of me. I humbly thank you. Passions started out as something I found by mistake, while surfing the net one day.It is now a huge part of my life and brings me much joy. Much of that is due to all of you fine folks.
Love,
~Amy~

My heart is pounding, my stomach's inside out
I'm feeling kind-a-shaky, my mind is full of doubt
All I ever think about, is fearing fear itself,
Wish I could unscrew my head and put it on the shelf
Everything is twisted, everything is oh so tight,
Don't know what I'm looking at, the lights are all too bright
My brain's about to crumble, spill out on the floor
Sweep 'em up. Throw 'em away, don't want 'em anymore
Clouds race across the sky, day turns into night,
Still there are the questions, no answers in sight
Everything is twisted, everything is oh so tight,
Starin' out the window, everything is just too bright
Brain's about to crumble, spill out on the floor,
Wish I could unscrew my head, and kick it out the door...
You know I'm feeling kind-a....Strange
You know I'm feeling kind-a....Strange

lovely thoughts amy..worst we feel when we're not accepted...the people who fail to accept holding on to something that doesn't really exist..they're the killers...of human spirit..well putforth...

Hey Amy...

I thank you for your lovely poem.
It makes you wonder if the world would be a better place if everyone was colorblind and could see beyond the shells we wear called "the color of our skin". Maybe then would we discover the beauty that lies beyond, in all our souls...

I salute you

Amy,
I love this!  I too found Passions by accident, and am so glad I did.  And I'm so glad you did too.  You have touched us too, you know, with poems just like this one.

This is so lovely!  I also found this forum by accident and so glad that I did.

I have a long way to go before I reach 1000,
(at about 50 now) but I have been truly inspired by the beautiful work I see here!
Thank you,
Debbie
