angry bird

You wanted to hug and you put on a smile,
but I froze you where you stand.
There's a finger in the middle of us.
The one in the middle of my hand.

You tell how much you hate me.
In ten minutes you'll say, "Sorry I was so mean."
What you don't mean are the words you say.
So I put up a finger in between.

I'm sick of all your piercing words
and of these soggy apologies.
I'm tired of trying to talk to you
so my finger speaks for me.

You can come and sob to me.
Tell me things that aren't true.
But if you wanna know what's in my heart,
my finger won't ever lie to you.

Don't come near or touch me.
I know how the love of a fist feels.
I choose to bottle my anger in a finger,
but my hate for you is just as real.

My finger knows the back of your head,
and it knows your bedroom door.
Today it knows your eyes because
we choose to hide no more.

My finger starts the car
and turns on the A/C.
I drive far away as it jumps out
the window to say "Goodbye" for me.

Perhaps you call "tough love"
what I call "hate and abuse".
But if you ever need a reminder,
my finger is here for you.

We all got somethin' we need to atone for.

OH MAN!!!
I LOVE THIS POEM!!
Ethan..darlin I love your poetic mind!!
this is so perfect with your sarcasim and wit.
I dont know whether to laugh or cry with ya...
I do so get the anger and the need to kiss this person off, but the hurt in this poem is evidnet as well...
so I'll hug ya for both reasons.
This is the most poetic and eloquent
flip off I have ever seen...
you are so cool...
I love the way you write my friend
I wish you would post more often!!

I think I could need - this in my life
I think I'm just scared - that I know too much
I can't relate and that's a problem
I'm feeling ...
If you're gone - maybe it's time to go home
There's an awful lot of breathing room
But I can hardly move
If you're gone - baby you need to come home
cuz there's a little bit of something me...
In everything in you.

I love the pun of the title -- it's also fair warning: SEVERE anger within. Your word choices were great. One question: how do you turn on your car and work your A/C with a middle finger? That sounds painful.   Seriously though; great read, especially for those smarting from breakups (I'm sure there's a few out there, right?)

Give me a chance, and I will rip
your heart apart, tear away your soul,
But why should I take that nasty trip,
when I could use this finger to show my hate's bowl?

......

Jack the ripper is back, but with more subtlety...anger wreaks the most potent of viruses on mankind, but controlled anger is sheer pleasure to behold for the one who delivers, one shudders to think what happens to the recipient of such cold anger....

Pretty nasty, very real, reminds me of a few great rock songs, that rumble throught this rustic mind...Poor Mistreated Me, Bleeding Me!!!

Nice work with the 'hate' theme, Ethan, amazing title too!

Regards, sudhir.
Meanwhile back to the war zone with Pink Floyd...

Hey you, out there in the cold,
Getting lonely, getting old, can you feel me?
Hey you, standing in the aisle,
With itchy feet and fading smile, can you feel me?
Hey you, don't help them to bury the light.
Don't give in without a fight.
Hey you, out there on your own,
Sitting naked by the phone, would you touch me?
Hey you, with your ear against the wall,
Waiting for someone to call out, would you touch me?
Hey you, would you help me to carry the stone?
Open your heart, I'm coming home....

by Roger Waters (Pink Floyd) - The Wall
