Hearken people of Passions poets all
Gather ye round and give ear to my call
I, Sir Sven, Knight of Romance bold
Challenge the Men of Passions young and old
Challenge them to a joust most poetic
In celebration of Love's grand aesthetic

The rules of this challenge are quite clear
Simply write a poem about love most dear
The poem can be of any style and form
And must stir feelings gentle and warm]
Ladies of Passions we will sing for you
With our tales of love, your hearts we'll woo

So Men of Passions, the challenge has been spoken
Will you offer more than just a token?
Will you pick up the gauntlet thrown down
Men of Passions, poets of world renown?
I know that you will each offer your best
To show that you can indeed pass this test.

Balladeer, LngJn, Parker, Danny, First Knight, jwesley, Mike, Eagle One, sea_of_okc, Brian, Kevin, RSEvans, Jeffrey, Sudhir, jmlee, and all Male members of Passions. . .

Gentlemen, the gauntlet has been thrown, I will expect your responses Post Haste!!  I demand satisfaction Gentlemen. . .

Ladies of Passions. . . I bow to you in humble service, please cheer for your favorites. . . encourage them, offer them inspiration. . . and above all, enjoy the show!!

Gentlemen. . . LET THE JOUST BEGIN!!!!!

Thy humble servant, O sire of romance,
I, a rustic in mind, will hereupon take a chance,
Cupid's eye will blink, waiting for the dart,
Shot out from my bow, if it returns, will make a work of art...
....
....
I am gonna, gonna, give it a try,
I am gonna, gonna, take a chance,
I am gonna, gonna, write a love song, full of romance,
I am gonna make you all cry....

Ha ha ha
What a teaser this one is Sven.

By the way, nice poem you have here in itself...

regards, sudhir

Hey you, out there in the cold,
Getting lonely, getting old, can you feel me?
Hey you, standing in the aisle,
With itchy feet and fading smile, can you feel me?
Hey you, don't help them to bury the light.
Don't give in without a fight.
Hey you, out there on your own,
Sitting naked by the phone, would you touch me?
Hey you, with your ear against the wall,
Waiting for someone to call out, would you touch me?
Hey you, would you help me to carry the stone?
Open your heart, I'm coming home....

Brave Sir Sven, prepare to fight
for, a poem, I must write.
You, a challenge bold hast given,
now, I fear, you must be riven.
So, your words, prepare to wield,
on this poetic battlefield!

May the bravest knight stand victorious!

We move on the barbarians, quick apace.
Our archers aim, and loose first flight,
The barbarians wither, fall, then die.

What???  This isn't it??  But, Sven, you said you wanted a Romance poem, and this is a poem about Roman legions... now, if that ain't Romance, I would love to know what is.  (hmmphhh, he's always changing the rules...)

However, since I am now a married man (the sweet Lorelei owns my heart), I need not worry about romance anymore.  I can simply disregard this challenge because, as Corinne says, "Upon my finger is a ring."  Ohhhh the joys of matrimony - wherein romance is no longer needed to maintain a healthy relationship; wherein, the man is the ruler, and the woman is always submissive and always happy with the attentions she receives.

I'll be very upset if anybody tells lil Lorelei about this thread - VERY upset....

Men of Passions, three poems have been written
By Knights who show no fear!
The poets whom by the challenge have been bitten
Are Eric, etpoet, and Sudhir!!

Eric has re-posted a poem describing a joust long ago
And Sudhir has looked into his heart
But for now, etpoet has stolen this grand show
With his tale of a love's new start.

So Men of Passions, why do you stand by and wait?
Do you fear these gentle posts?
Your presence is hoped for, your poems we humbly await,
Give not truth to my boasts!!

Gentlemen, the fray has been entered, the meele established. . . these three Knights have taken the first steps. . . they and I await your entry. . . step forth good Knights. . . amaze and delight us all!!

Do not make me have to call each of you out by name Gentlemen. . .I demand satisfaction!!!

The heart of this fair maiden is flamed with fire,
Waiting upon these brave knights to conspire,
Words of love, passionate romance,
Devotion of winning any maidens heart,
Let the poetry start,
I do so love a good challenge,
And to see thy windows of these hearts,
Hearts of knights, brave and true,
Any poetic love will do.....

Sven, I just noticed your challenge....
Well well my good King... I'll have to think on this... It seems posting old poems is ok in this challenge is it.... Well maybe I'll do that for a little breather, while I think up something new. You really want me to change gears here, I was just getting going with the Sigmund Freud personal and now you want Romeo. Well then Romeo it is....
I'm a lover not a fighter....
Oh, Juliet where for art thou Juliet....

I gaze upon the gauntlet lately thrown
With eyebrows archly raised -- am I to be
Here silent?  Shall my ardor not be shown
In verses sweetly spun?  What primacy
Or privilege should gender here afford?
Cannot a Lady's quill as surely sing
Of Longing's bittersweet, of Love's reward?
What eloquence could male perspective bring?
A Lady I may be, by God's design --
An object, I am not -- and thus, I say
I take the gauntlet's call as rightly mine,
And Heaven help the Man who says me nay!!

hehehe

Go ahead, I DARE you ...

Hey Sven...

I´m new here, but I loved your poem and the challenge is hereby accepted...
I will pick up the gauntlet now and strike thee with my pen

"The all of this life
The everything of me
The touch of my wife
When she´s touching me
The beauty of youth
The wisdom of age
Sharing it all on this lifetime-stage

The promises made
The thrill of the new
The outside will fade
Like fresh fallen dew
But hear as I say
That I cherish this fall
I see inside now, loving it all"

Eternal love, you just can´t beat it...

-nando-

Ask me how to live your life, and this to you I´ll say: make your choises true and wise, so that when tomorrow will arise, you´ll smile at yesterday...

Welcome Brave Knights!!  The grand fray awaits!
There are hearts to be won and many desires to sate.
Knights from far and near have decided to take part
To win that prize we all hold most dear, the heart.

Parker has written his first sonnet for those here
And Walt has done one that sparks laughter's tears
First Knight has illustrated his poem of the past
And Master has shown us indeed words that will last.

Champions have been chosen and cheered on to greatness
Those who have not yet joined will be chastised for lateness
But from the crowd there rings out a cry very strange
The voice of a lady come from far out of range

She demands entrance to this grand poetic display
Says that though she is a woman, she indeed has much to say
She mounts her horse of white to join the poetic fight
But she is stopped at the gates, denied access this night

For we know that she is gifted, an object she indeed is not!
But she does not belong with this Knighted, rabbled lot!
We do know that as a warrior, she can hold her own
But this challenge is not hers, and so she stands alone.

Gentlemen, the battle continues. . . but there are still some who have not yet entered. . . we await your entries Gentlemen. . . for honor, for Poetry. . . for ROMANCE!!!

Gentle Skyfyre, though you ask for entrance to this Joust, I am afraid that I must deny thy petition at this time. . . this challenge was not issued to thee. . . perhaps another time. . .

Sir Sven I have done your challenge and it stands posted.
Mine words followed onto the boards and it stands coasted.
For I hath hit thee with a fair blow,
And I do hope it is not too low.

For I have posted my blow on the board.
And I pray for my winnings to be soared.
Higher on the pedistle I stand.
With my joust in my hand.

I fear that I stand alone.
Upon the other challengers bones.

I was looking for this challenge, wondering what it was. Well I accept the challenge. First I am going to curl up with an emily bronte book and a cup of tea, then I am getting ot a box of cholocates and all the meg ryan movies I can find just so I can capture love. lol

To the top of the page so that all the others who were clueless to the challenge may know what the darn 'ell was going on.
