Cross Roads

As they walk along the shore
no words pass their lips.
Staring out across the sea
Not a sound to be heard.
The warm gentle breeze
Creates shivers up their spine.

The day had finally come
No longer could they be.
The people that they were
Dreams they had shared.
All washed away
As tears fell down their cheeks.

Memories fill their minds
Of a time when life was kind.
Oh, Love was so sweet
Colorful were the days
Years that held Passion.
They each express a smile.

Together they had traveled
Down that road of life.
One straight shot
No turns, no bends.
Until now, at this moment
They stand at the crossroads.

They know the decision.
Fate had made its choice
To follow a new path
To create a new chapter.
Never to forget one another
They hold each other in their hearts.

They journey into the horizon.
Neither ever turning to see
If the other is watching the departure.
Forcing themselves onward
They only Hope and Pray
That their paths my cross again.

 --------------
You got to get up every morning with a smile on your face
and show the world all the love in your heart
Then people are gonna treat you better
You're gonna find, yes you will
That your beautiful as you feel.~~~ Carol King

Lovely poem kitkat.  Fate has a way of sometimes having our paths cross more than once.

KitKat~
I liked this.
The idea of standing at the 'crossroads'
and each taking a different direction was
so well done ...
I believe the twists and turns of life will always lead us back into someone's life.
Also .. enjoyed the positive note of remembering the good and parting with a smile.

Thank-you for your replies. I guess I was looking to give the effect that sometimes when a relationship is over it does not always have to be bad. If it was truly meant to be they would meet again.

hey girl...nice to have you posting
this is great writing and well
expressed reflections...
it is always nice when we can part as friends.
good poem with a message of wisdom
take care, jm

I think I could need - this in my life
I think I'm just scared - that I know too much
I can't relate and that's a problem
I'm feeling ...
If you're gone - maybe it's time to go home
There's an awful lot of breathing room
But I can hardly move
If you're gone - baby you need to come home
cuz there's a little bit of something me...
In everything in you.

hi KITKAT
its a nice poem. at times people need to do that and this may be  good or bad for I'm not sure.at times there is fear of roads never meetin at all but if there's hope and if there's love nothing can stop for it's meant to be. its difficult one to predict.

sincerely
