Earthbound this husk that I call me
Container for what once flew free
Not bound by laws of gravity
Nor with these eyes of mine did see

Once did I see through eyes of grace
Standing in His holy place
Beheld with awe His perfect face
Before the dawn of human race

Sometimes I think I see Him still
His voice my heart and mind does fill
Instructs me as I do His will
Provides me with unearthly skill

He guards me with celestial might
Reveals to me the paths of right
Gives me strength and will to fight
Pervasive evil, mankind's blight

My goal His kingdom to restore
For eighty years or so before
I knock again upon His door
To be transformed and fly once more

I think I could need - this in my life
I think I'm just scared - that I know too much
I can't relate and that's a problem
I'm feeling ...
If you're gone - maybe it's time to go home
There's an awful lot of breathing room
But I can hardly move
If you're gone - baby you need to come home
cuz there's a little bit of something me...
In everything in you.

Wow, I love the first two lines of this...You used some completely unique terms...(husk, container) which really set the mood for the rest of the poem. Kind of gives the reader that "emptiness" in the beginning, of what the speaker is feeling.  This is superb, I can definately see why it's your favorite. Bravo sir on looking inside the soul.  Have I told you lately that I'm glad you're back?  ROFLMAO

Nice work, Sea....and it IS good to see you back! Stick around for a while

You're bound to get a good comment from Poet Femme by writing about anything "husky"!
