I have heard the wild geese crying-
As they journey on their way.
Oh, I’d join them in their flying…
For I cannot bear to stay.

I still think of all the places-
And the people I have known…
I discovered at a young age,
That I was born to roam.

I was born to rove the highways-
I was born to know the wild…
I was bred for aimless drifting,
I’m the North wind’s eldest child.

I’m the tumbleweed’s companion,
And the highway is my home,
My dwelling’s where I hang my hat…
You see, I’m born to roam.

I was born to hear the sirens,
As they sang Ulysses’ song.
The wolf is my companion…
And to cage me would be wrong.

I’ll write a line of verse, or two-
And leave you with a song,
I’ll wander while I still draw breath…
You see, I’m born to roam.

Great Poem, Gunslinger --- glad you got
to live what you were born to be.

GS this has such a western beat to it! I loved it. Though sometimes it can be really rough not being able to stay in one place. I tell ya though, those who stay wish they could roam, and those who roam, wish they could stay. Great poem!

Born with wanderlust,
Born to roam,
Freewill at my behest,
I travel to lands away from home...

So I hear Wordsworth here???

Nice work, Gunslinger...
I take my hat off for your fine work
Regards, sudhir.

Hey you, out there in the cold,
Getting lonely, getting old, can you feel me?
Hey you, standing in the aisle,
With itchy feet and fading smile, can you feel me?
Hey you, don't help them to bury the light.
Don't give in without a fight.
Hey you, out there on your own,
Sitting naked by the phone, would you touch me?
Hey you, with your ear against the wall,
Waiting for someone to call out, would you touch me?
Hey you, would you help me to carry the stone?
Open your heart, I'm coming home....
