I haven't written very many poems as of yet, but this poem holds special meaning for me because I wrote it for a very special friend. She is a light in the darkeness and she has been through so much.
As a very young girl she was raped by a family friend and became pregnant. She carried her baby in silence. She gave birth to him (under a tree)
and no one knew, he was born too early and he died in her hands. She was all of (I believe) 12 or 13. I cannot imagine how she has survived but she has.
I am blessed to call her my friend.

~ He Rested His Wings ~

He rested His wings,
ever so brief.
A moment in time,
my heart ached with grief.

A few tender moments,
of physical touch.
My baby Matthew,
taught me so much.

The warmth of His body,
His perfect round head.
That day by the tree,
many tears I did shed.

Sweet baby fingers,
and cute little toes.
Why He left me so quickly,
My Lord only knows.

A gift from my Saviour,
someone to love.
A bridge to heaven,
a soul from above.

He came for a moment,
He had such a big part.
Tiny footprints He left,
on His mommy's heart.

I can understand why this would be your favorite poem.  It is beautful!  Such a sad story with it, I am truly sorry about what happened to your friend. The flow, and the thought is perfect. Thanks for sharing this.

Take care,

Lori~
Your thoughts are tenderly portrayed.

What a tragedy that this poem even needed to be written ... to think that she had no one she felt she could turn to so that Matthew could stand a chance to make it into this world.

I'm glad she has your friendship.

I think I could need - this in my life
I think I'm just scared - that I know too much
I can't relate and that's a problem
I'm feeling ...
If you're gone - maybe it's time to go home
There's an awful lot of breathing room
But I can hardly move
If you're gone - baby you need to come home
cuz there's a little bit of something me...
In everything in you.
