Death By Love

This me,
this you
who shared
our very breath,
the essence of creation
the pureness
of Him…
the ecstasy
of life,
the way of everything
that ever was...

This person,
who loved you
with every sparkle
of the nighttime sky,
every kiss
that's ever been given,
every hand
that's ever touched
every word
that's ever been said,
had to watch you
walk away,
had to hear you say
goodbye,
had to see you
no more…

This dying heart
marked for oblivion
shown the sepulcher
of it's death
touched the mane
of the Milky Way
and fled when Satan arose
from the fiery depths.

This glistening tear
rolling down
sodden cheek
salty,
salty to the taste,
falling,
falling
with increasing haste,
splashing to the floor,
then is no more...

This empty soul
screaming
for it's voice to be heard,
crying
to hear just one word,
hiding from the light
shinning so bright,
in the hand
of the darkness
pushing it forward,
onward
in spite
of the fear
it incites.

This empty shell,
this body,
this man
forgotten,
ignored,
a non-entity
living a shadow life
among the multitudes
that see him
no more;
see him only
as a sore,
a blight,
an open pore
a pustulating,
reeking,
effigy of humanity.

This mind
that dreamed
of stardust,
held hands
with the Lord,
spoke of the wonders
of life,
of living,
giving of itself
to any that paused to hear,
now wrecked
and beaten,
locked in a walless space
confined by emptiness,
unaware
of all
but itself,
and of even that,
is unsure.

My God,
what
a waste.

jwesley.....what a powerful piece.  Your words bring to mind vivid images.  Such sadness and lonliness.  Great writing!

To say that this is profound is an understatement.  I am so moved by these last two stanzas:

This mind
that dreamed
of stardust,
held hands
with the Lord,
spoke of the wonders
of life,
of living,
giving of itself
to any that paused to hear,
now wrecked
and beaten,
locked in a walless space
confined by emptiness,
unaware
of all
but itself,
and of even that,
is unsure.

My God,
what
a waste.

What a waste, indeed.

--this is so incredibly sad. i can relate to the images you have written in this piece quite well. but tis not a waste m'friend. sometimes even though we love most...we have to let go. and it hurts like hell...as you have so poetically captured here.

I will ditto Jana...profound indeed...
amazing imagery, and the depth and
desperation of emotion is astonishing.
excellent JW...truly
