Dixie Land Delight
~*Marge Tindal*~

There's a place way down in Dixie Land
that simmers with delight
Where you'll hear friends harmonizing
on any given night

It rolls with southern accent
easily off the tongue
Belles and gents in casual attire
Salutations of  - Y'all come !

Bring your spirit of genteel manner
Sit with us among the bowers
Sipping fresh-squeezed lemonade
midst fragrant magnolia flowers

Where a handshake just says 'Howdy'
Coffee's perking in the pot
Come on down to Dixie Land
We'll share with you what we've got

Swaying branch of stately oak
Sun waltzing in promenade
Lazy hammock swinging
sleepily in the shade

Howdy, folks ... pull up a chair
We're life-story exchangers
Hope you'll tell us 'bout yourself
cause we don't cotton much to strangers

A little music from the fiddle
plays on through 'til dawn
Welcome to the friendly South
Mama's got the vittles on

You'll find it so enchanting
You'll want to stay the night
Welcome to my slice of Heaven
My Dixie Land Delight

~Marge,...oh I love this!!!  I work for a woman who grew up there and it made me think of her and her family that are still there.  Truly a great piece,...it sang it's way to me.  It's a very inviting piece. I like that. Take care.

Marge~
My dear, you couldn't have gotten it more right!  I don't think I could even enjoy living anywhere as much as I do here in the South.  We are life-story exchangers, aren't we?  And we like to share in everything.  The first thing I can ever remember being told by my grandmother when I was little goes like this:
My cousins and I were staying with her one day in the summer, and we were playing and having a ball - as usual.  We all had a bunch of toys and playthings, and everything was wonderful.  Some of the kids from across the way were walking down the road and decided to stop by and see what we were doing.  They wanted to play, too, but (you know us kids  )  we didn't want to give up any of our toys.  My grandmother walked right up to me and bent down and whispered in my ear -- (little one, you are from the south.  We believe in hospitality here.  That means that you share what you have, anything you have, with anyone who needs it, like you would share it with your own family.  That is what makes you special.)  I have never forgotten those words.

So, I extend a hearty welcome to all who want to come visit us, too.  From the heart of Mississippi here, ya'lls welcome!!!!!

Love Ya~

Marge, could almost smell the magnolias--wait a second---I DO smell magnolias--right outside my window...beautifully done, MOM.

other images came to mind--creme de menthe, fried catfish, and somehow, somebody always seems to be playing checkers/dominoes....and
lazy dragonflies (once saw a lavender one) it all sounds so cliche' until you're there and you feel like you're in a movie...
