I would Explain the Sky

There are so many big things
and yet I squint
and catch some small winking
just waiting for explanation.

I would explain the sky,
yet one small star holds me
and whispers of shadows
that stars make
on night skyís dark plane
and the music in the void
that causes angelís to weep,
it whispers of treasure
and to imagine an opening
where brilliance falls all around
like marbles gay and melting color.

There are so many dusty roads
and this one time I found
a dull stone
shaped like a heart,
not perfect but obvious,
and it enlightened me
and quenched my romance
in a perfect minute.

There are questions popping all around
like bubbles
the big hand blows sweet wind
wild windÖ.hot wind, treacherous wind
and I lean into truth
as if I could see it there
with some enormous righteous intent
displaying obvious answers
invisible answers
that I have to walk around
and study with creased and pressed thought

Because
sometimes simple is so complicated

Oh what a gorgeous poem you have penned Martie.

a dull stone
shaped like a heart,
not perfect but obvious,
and it enlightened me
and quenched my romance
in a perfect minute.

so beautiful!

Martie a wonderful poem, I think often that we try so hard to explain things that we forget to just enjoy them. So instead of explaining why I loved this poem, I am going to read it again and enjoy its beauty again. great poem.

Martie, You TAKE MY BREATH AWAY!!!
But, oh! That second verse, Martie, that second verse! What splendor you create! And tell me, where do these beautiful notions come from? The never-ending fountain of magical whims, only in your mind, for nobody writes like this
And oh! That second verse!
Don't get me wrong, I loved them all
But OH! That second verse!
What else can I say?

Martie,
So deep, yet so simple too.  I love the way you have so brilliantly explained this contradiction.

sometimes simple is so complicated...
me thinks that sometimes the beauty of simplicity is what we ought to be seeking.
Your ability to take a single thought, or snapshot of your life, and transform it into a work of poetic splendor is a gift the rest of us are extremely fortunate to be able to experience.  Have a nice day my friend.

What a nice poem!  I like the bit about the single star stopping you short of explaining the sky.

I am new to writing poetry, so everyone please bear with me, I won't know all the lingo for a bit...

Martie, you inspire me to write. I love to write about the sky and romance. You poem reminds me about one small star that holds me. Everytime I look into the sky, I see the stars in just one part of the sky, whispering and calling to me. This poem really makes me think about those thoughts. Thank you for writing it so well....

This was stunning Martie!  So many questions, so few answers, the complication of simplicity, the imagery, the sounds I can almost hear myself ... you took me right into this one Martie ... beautiful!

Best wishes,
/Kit

You are amazing, Martie! The second verse is my most favorite, as well! I shall never look at the sky the same way again!
