Never a spectacle, never a show
Small simple pleasures wherever we go
We stop for a sunset, or little wildlife
And pass by the major attractions in life
A coke and a sandwich to carry us through
These are the things that I love about you

A candle lit meal on a dock by the lake
A hand written card with a crossed out mistake
A birthday rendition on your old guitar
Beats the greatest symphonic performance by far
A small weathered vase of forget-me-not blue
These are the things that I love about you

Getting prepared for a great interview
Going to bed early, then talking til two
A scheduled appointment you don’t want to miss
In the driveway you stop for a five minute kiss
While the kids in the window are waving to you
These are small pleasures known only to few

If you were a millionaire with just one wish
You’d trade it all in for that getaway fish
A local bred boy without fortune or fame
But down at the diner they all know your name
And you treat that old chef like his blood was pure blue
And that is the thing I love most about you

A dance in the kitchen, the red, white and blue
Honesty, honor, the essence of you

Elizabeth Santos

Love you two, Dale Gwaltney and I guess I should say Roooosamary, that was a snore, as that's what she's doin'

Much Love for the 2 of you.

Boy, are you two blind, or what? Not morning people, huh? Well, come on gang, lets throw them both in a cold creek! Clothes and all.
Have fun!

What I like and love about you, Elizabeth, is that you let your heart shine through both the good times and bad...and you make those bad ones go away mighty quick.

My prayers are with you and yours...

Elizabeth, you've seem to have expressed some thoughts I could not.  I love you for this, and I love this poem.

Liz, this is a beautiful poem. I love the description you give of this simple man that you love. Beautiful writing, as usual.

"trade it all in for that getaway fish"...I would love the poem for that line alone but the rest of them are just as good. Wonderful writing, my friend....

You've shown it's the simple things that are the most treasured and I see you do treasure them with your whole being.  This is exquisite work from a beautiful heart. God Bless and take care. Thank you for sharing this.

Thanks for all your wonderful remarks. This is not a portrayal of my life, but kind of my ideal man. He was probably out there, I just did get the chance to meet him. But my life is also wonderful, and perhaps someone has written a poem about it
