To have never held your beauty
in my trembling arms that day,
as I kissed "forever kisses"
and my tears fell where you lay.

To have never felt your little feet
send ripples through my skin,
As you kicked and stretched your mama's joy
blossomed from within.

To have never seen your precious face,
your rosebud lips.. so sweet.
To have never held such perfection,
my life would forever be incomplete.

To have never known your beauty,
if only for a day.
Is to have never known "forever" is
much more then a word we say.

Very sad... butI am reading this two ways.  Would you be so kind as to give a little more explanation on your piece? Thank you.

~Sunshine~
My daughter Erin was stillborn at 40.6 weeks gestation. She was beautiful and perfect in every way.
If I had known from the begining that she would die and I went through a whole pregnancy with dread, I think I would of missed so much. I don't think I could of enjoyed the gifts she gave me for the nine months she grew inside me.
I guess I have come to relize that if I had never known her, if I never had the experience of being Erin's mom I would be so much less a person, Through her I have grown.
I cannot imagine my life without her's  touching it, even if it meant for such  a short while.
This, our life on earth, is so temporary. I will have forever, when she is again in my arms.

~~And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain
But I'd of had to miss the dance~~
The Dance- Garth Brooks

p.s. this is probably so much more then you wanted to know.. sorry

oh god this brought tears to my eyes! so sad yet written so beautiful! you have an amazing talent to reveal your truest feelings on paper. that is no easy task, trust me i know. i know this must be extremely hard to share this kind of pain in your life with us...but i am glad to know you are healing and growing through this process. take care and god bless you!

As I posted to your other poem I wondered about Erin and what her story was, thank you so much for sharing it so that I don't put my foot in my mouth.
This is a painfully touching poem with so much of your heart in it. I relate to your story in many ways and I hope that your writing releases some of the pain and helps you to heal.  **Angel Wing Hugs**

~Aimster~ and ~Butterfly's~
Thank you so much for your kinds words. I have a hard time "talking" to people. It's so hard for me to express myself in person so writting has been my friend. When you lose someone that you loved so much, you often "visit" your grief when people (family) in your life don't want to listen or hear anymore, they have moved on. So I have found this helps, to sit down with a pen and paper and get it all out before I burst from holding it in.
Thank you again for your touching responses to me.

You're absolutely right, angel. That is one of the joys and advantages of being able to write and put one's thoughts down on paper. I am happy for you that you have this release and you do it very well. It is an extremely touching poem.

Lori~
I've been to your web page and seen
this perfect little Erin angel.
She is beautiful ... just as this poem
is a beautiful reflection of your heart.

Oh, I read this, and tears came instantly to my eyes.  I too, have had a baby born still.  I am so terribly sorry about your loss of your beloved little Erin.

I never saw this, until your e-mail today, and I went on a search!

Oh, my heart bleeds for you.

Where has your site gone?  If you still have one, could you e-mail me and tell me where I can find it?

With warmth and care,  Rosemary
