Morning gathers in the curtain
to displays a crimson light
dazzled through the slant of shading
across a flash of keen insight.

Delivered in the softest rustle
elfin feet are softly going
with the moon's own fingers quieting
to the sunís more open flowing.

Now departs delicious sweet dream
yet lingers still profound delight
lays me down against this lapping
quiet waterís weaving light.

Pewter tinted stars devoured
by the cream that slithers in
whispering open up with listening
hark the softly growing din.

Blaze this tree in sunlit splendor
trace the flowering petal near
now I feel nightís sweet surrender
to the sun shineís clean and clear.

This is one of the most beautiful poems I have ever read in my life. Martie, you get better and better and I don't understand how that can be. This is probably my favorite of yours, or close to it.
I'm so glad I caught this before I went to bed
Excellent, girl!

Liz is right---
there is a certain class of poet, whose gift is so rare and perfect...
that it gives them vision that the rest of us dont have...
you my dear are one of those gifted poets.
you can observe a moment in time,
that otherwise goes unoticed(or taken for granted)
and you weave into a tapestry of spun gold with your poets pen.
this poem proves my point completely.
the poem is breathtaking.
take care, jm

Some things cannot be explained by verses that rhyme,
They are not measured by the commitment of time.
Some emotions run too deep to be described by words,
Forgiveness and understanding-remain the most beautiful words ever heard.

Oh, Martie,  Your muse and mine seem to be mingling, intertwining - this poem of yours sends me wafting into a sweet spring breeze of memories, until I know I have to tell you - lovely and breathtaking, my friend!  Thank you for such beauty!

So picturesque and dream-like Martie ... you've given night's surrender an enchanting, almost human quality ... wonderfully written!

Best wishes,

Martie~
Just the MOST BEAUTIFUL poem.
Look !  The rhyme is even gathering
in the curtains !

'lays me down against this lapping
quiet waterís weaving light.'

Simply serenely seductive.
You make the day begin on a smile.
Love ya'

I awoke this morning to the sunlight streaming through the window and the beauty of the pen of Martie flowing like a gentle stream...     me thinks it is going to be a wonderful day in Kansas.

Now wait a minute!! Isn't it enough that you have to show us that you're the master of free verse and now you slip into rhyming country and take over here, too?????

Well, please stay, ok? Your poetry is beautiful, Martie, in any style you choose

Ohhhhhhh, such a picturesque delivery of message, Martie, this is way greater than great...

Thanks for sharing this one...

Regards, sudhir

Hey you, out there in the cold,
Getting lonely, getting old, can you feel me?
Hey you, standing in the aisle,
With itchy feet and fading smile, can you feel me?
Hey you, don't help them to bury the light.
Don't give in without a fight.
Hey you, out there on your own,
Sitting naked by the phone, would you touch me?
Hey you, with your ear against the wall,
Waiting for someone to call out, would you touch me?
Hey you, would you help me to carry the stone?
Open your heart, I'm coming home....

Wow!  I'm overwhelmed by the response to this poem...I don't usually write in rhyme because that form of expression doesn't come easily to me, but this poem just became, all by itself.  Must have been the muse I bought from Liz for $20.00.  Thank you all so much for your kind and sweet replies--you have made my day!
