Angels In White
~*Marge Tindal*~

I have heard the song
of the Women In White
Sung o'er campfires
in the night

Honored far
beyond compare
for the hearts
that they did wear

Within the hearts
of soldiered men
The Women In White
still comfort them

Years gone by
yet in the still of night
A woman still appears
dressed in Nurse's angelic white

Upon her chest
many medals hang bright
The hearts of all the men she comforts
an Angel dressed in Nurse's White

Dedicated to Gladys Mae - mother of Irish Rose
And to all the nurses who gallantly tended
the soldiers of all wars.

WONDERFUL poem, and a great tribute, Marge...

Regards, sudhir

Hey you, out there in the cold,
Getting lonely, getting old, can you feel me?
Hey you, standing in the aisle,
With itchy feet and fading smile, can you feel me?
Hey you, don't help them to bury the light.
Don't give in without a fight.
Hey you, out there on your own,
Sitting naked by the phone, would you touch me?
Hey you, with your ear against the wall,
Waiting for someone to call out, would you touch me?
Hey you, would you help me to carry the stone?
Open your heart, I'm coming home....

A lovely tribute Marge. My mother and sister are nurses...I could never do it..can't stand to see anyone suffer.

Sudhir~
Thank you ... they deserve all the recognition we can give them.

Thanks, hon.  It would not be my profession of choice either ... but thank God for those that have answered it's call.
Goodness knows the men in the wars thought they were angels indeed.

Marge - a truly beautiful poem - I was struck more, though, this time, by the remembrance of "Is Anybody Out There" - forgive me - I must speak to Sudhir -

Sudhir Iyer- Bringing me Pink Floyd's anguish hit me like a brick in the chest.  Don't get me wrong - I love Roger Waters' poetry - but it's so filled with pain - it brings me to my own any time of the day or night.
Yes, it is so appropriate, for this wonderful lady who nursed the injured and dying in the war.
Thank you for remembering a man whose acute lyrics will never be forgotten.

You caught me with "Irish Rose" the song, the person, my wife, the vino... kinda hit home. Mom loved her wine and could she/we ever sing over the campfires in starry's night. I still can't play much of the things we used to... But I can surely see the white. Very nice and welcome to dreams in passions. SIGH..!

Irish Rose is fortunate
to have a friend in Marge
for with her wit and honored words
she shares her world so large...

for there are those who should be honored
by the fortunates ones, the "we"
so Marge, a tip of my quill to you
for the wisdom I see in thee.< !signature-->

IrishRose~
My friend, I'm pleased that your memories of your mother inspired me to write it for you.
It honors me greatly to know that it's framed and in your home.
As you remember your mother's Angel Wings of White, so will I.
Love ya', hon.

Sunshine~
What a precious poetic reply.
I appreciate you, my friend.
