even an angel sometimes falters
even an angel sometimes fails
when the wind beneath her wings dies
when the wind ceases to carry her sails

an angel's wings are fragile
sometimes they fray and tear
sometimes an angel gets lost
drowning in all the despair

an angel's heart is open
but there is only so much it can take
she loves you more than her last breath
this gift of fate you should not forsake

can you hear an angel calling
do you hear her lonely cries
do you know she needs you to hold her
do you know in you she lives and dies

will you hold on to her love
can you hear the song she sings
will you still love a fallen angel
or will you take away her wings

for DeVante' with love,
always know I am keeping my promises

Some things cannot be explained by verses that rhyme,
They are not measured by the commitment of time.
Some emotions run too deep to be described by words,
Forgiveness and understanding-remain the most beautiful words ever heard.

I believe we are all angels waiting to be released. Some of us have the feeling that we are angels
while others are born knowing, I believe you of are one of those who was born knowing.
You poems and e-mails bring a ray of light every day.

"will you hold on to her love
can you hear the song she sings
will you still love a fallen angel
or will you take away her wings"

An angel will always be an angel no matter what form she takes.
Her actions bring hope and joy to those around,
Giving them a little piece of heaven.

A beautiful poem.

Just listen to what I can keep silent"

Dearest Jan; How I love this poem. How many times I have been that fallen Angel! Still I know that my Beloved will forgive and forget all.
You, dear friend, have been an Angel in my life, fallen or otherwise!
Thanks again for your loveliest of commments to the sonnet. Go see what I replied to your reply! I do treasure you as my friend!
Love, Ellie

Janet, this reminds me of a beautiful country song I've heard...about a man who beats his woman down, yet she flies even with a broken wing, so beautifully.  I'm not sure who sings it, but I do hope to find out.  This was written from deep within, I can tell.  Very emotional piece from a beautiful angel herself.....   Fly girl...you can do it!  Love you!
