In between my destiny

Oh how my heart was yearning for this golden opportunity
to look around once more to be foot loose and fancy free.
And now that the day is here I feel all out of place.
Sort of wondering where I belong cause now I'm missing where I was and missing where I'll be.
I could be wrong but it sure seems to me that I'm stuck right in between my destiny.
This is definately one of those times when life is not all sugar and spice and everything nice.
My life doesn't seem to have any rhyme or reason anymore.
Could I turn around and go back to where I was before
or do those opportunities even exist anymore?
I must go on and see what lies ahead.
No matter what awaits I must assimilate and embrace my fate.
It was I who chose to move on and not by chance.
And even today I make the choice to remain in this situation and I shall be a willing victor or victim of every circumstance.

"I shall be a willing victor or victim of every circumstance".

Ow I love that line, I know what it is like when you are in transition, I remember being a teenager and making huge changes in the space of a month, shedding the cocoon of youth and laying to rest my childhood demons it was like a rebirth.

I love your free flowing verse

Sort of wondering where I belong cause now I'm missing where I was and missing where I'll be.
I could be wrong but it sure seems to me that I'm stuck right in between my destiny.
I used to wonder this all the time,

"I must assimilate and embrace my fate"
I guess we should assimilate our fate but only our fate and no one elses.

wonderful poem.

~Hey there,...*sigh*, what a piece.  I've made choices that have left me in this place.  And that's what they were too, choices,...not even chance.  I had to deal.  This is a great post,...thanks for sharing.

sweetbabyjames...you long with grace in this superb writing..your poetry has evolved and grown so beautifully of late...you are finding your self in all this soul searching...no looking back my friend...
DESTINY in never behind us...

No Looking Back

The past is just that...the past-
We cannot change it, or take it back.
It is not ours-to be undone, even if only to release us from regret,
We must accept the reasons, resist the temptation to ask why.

Instead we should learn from life's many lessons,
Grow stronger in its challenges, expect there will be more to come.
Focus on the future, fate will provide our path,
Live in the moment, treasure the gifts of this time.

Search for the light that shines in all our hearts,
Reach-without hesitation, touch and be touched-by a friend.
Love and respect yourself and others will follow ...
make understanding the way.
Find peace and inspiration in your own soul...trust in your heart...
and then just simply believe.

Janet Marie-12/30/99

Some things cannot be explained by verses that rhyme,
They are not measured by the commitment of time.
Some emotions run too deep to be described by words,
Forgiveness and understanding-remain the most beautiful words ever heard.

I agree with JM on this James.  Your best writing is definitly coming from your heart and soul.  Hang in there......it will all come together soon.

Thank you brian, Spitfire, Rhavin, Kit and Marina for your wonderful comments.
Janet thanks for the wisdom in "No Looking Back".  I believe I need to print that up and put it on my refrigerator.  Especially liked
"Focus on the future, fate will provide our path.
Live in the moments, treasure the gifts of this time."
I have been stuck in the hurt and pain of the past for so long and I need to embrace these new moments, and I have been making some progress.   James
