Freely Flows The River
~*Marge Tindal*~

Down the valley
over the hill
the river flows freely
on it's way to the rill

Flowing 'neath ponds of lily
into the lakes
little more than
a ripple it makes

Out to the ocean
in channels of current
flowing with tides
that are resurgent

Waves come pounding
to the shore
returning to the
river once more

The cycle continues
when the rain
gathers in Cumulus
bulging with rain

Down fall the droplets
on umbrella'd heads
delivered again
to the great river beds

Lovely, flowing, cyclical verse, dear Marge...was this by any chance inspired by our Liz's "Reasons" poem? It would make a very nice accompaniment. You are with gift, my lady.

I have always connected water with spirituality, and I believe it can cleanse the soul. Also I think the journey through life is like a river, we are all streams heading towards the ocean. I read a poem, forget the author, who used the stages of the river as a metaphor for stages in life. Was it Lao Tze Tao? can't remember anyway,

a fantastic poem about the cycle of a river's journey. Beautiful poem.

You read my heart well.
Yes, her spirit again inspires
my quill.
Thank you for the ever-so-kind reply.

current of the water-flow ...
ever-moving, ever-changing it's path ...
and takes us with it, returning us where
it wants us to be.
Thank you.

I appreciate the reply. I'm rather fond of circles.

Kit~
Thank you.  If I've brought the 'sound'
of the circle of water to you - I've done more than I expected to do this day.
I'm elated.

Kathleen~
I'm pleased you like it.
Thank you for seeing my river.

Very soothing. Of course, with your icon, now I'm thinking of deer standing in the water drinking, their reflections drinking them. That's kinda soothing too, of course.

I do appreciate your comments.
Pleased to know that you found it soothing.

Lorraine~
Thank you, it's so nice to know that the effect of this was felt by so many.
Lets the poetess feel that she has accomplished what the musings of her heart intended.

The circle continues Marge. . . the river of life flows on and on. . . and our lives along with it. . .

Beautiful poem....

It flows as freely as love flows
from your heart, soul and spirit.
It flows as freely as poetry
flows from your quill.
It flows as freely as the friendship
You offer to everybody.
Lovely poem, Marge!
You are a supreme poetess for sure.
Love and hugs,
Lizzie

Oh Marge, I love poetry about cycles...this is wonderful and perfect....you know the first poem I ever wrote, at age five, was about this same thing.  Thanks for reminding me.  You're the best!

FIVE ? ... FIVE ?  Age of FIVE ?
My goodness, lady ... how could you
possibly remember what you wrote at
age FIVE ? (I'm trusting that a wonderful mom saved it for you ... not that it's a long time ago - but - FIVE ?)
You are of ~spirit~ for sure !
Love you .....

Glad you enjoyed both.
Did a rain chant last evening and hopefully it will bring in some of that rain that we need so badly.
Thanks, gal.
