I never knew what faith was,
till I had to live by it.
Because I lost you.

I never knew that what I believed could be so shattered.
Until I tried to pick up the pieces,
after you left.

I never knew that who I was and where I was going
could change so quickly,
because of broken dreams.

I never knew the grip of despair could hold so tightly,
and shake the core of my being.
Till you left me.. silently.

I never knew how profound silence could be,
till I spoke your name to friends and
no one said a word.

I never knew how long a night could be,
till your leaving left my body hungry for sleep
that just wouldn't come.

I never knew I could love so deeply,
and completely.
Because of your being.

Until I loved you,
I never knew.

angelsamongus that was a powerful and beautiful poem, I know it is based  on a tragedy but there is a message of underlining hope in the words

I never knew what faith was,
till I had to live by it.
Because I lost you.

Thank you for sharing.

Oh, this is a beautiful poem, and I'm so very sorry for your terrible loss!  I too, am a bereaved mother.
You have formed this poem in such a way that many people could interpret it to situations in their own lives, and that takes talent.  That's very hard for me to do.  Excellent work.  I'm going to go look for other poems by you.  The first one I saw was one of an old woman, rocking, remembering her lost baby of years past.  I loved that one.
This is a lovely poem too, in spite of the deep sorrow. Or, perhaps, because of the deep sorrow.  Again, I am so sorry.

Hey Marge~
Nan fixed it for me.. I couldn't figure it out.. I hope your "friend" enjoys the pages. I had started taking the site down so there alot of broken links *sorry*
~Rosemary~
I am so sorry for the loss of your child. I have found so many of "us" on the net, struggling to make sense of the senseless. I am glad you picked up on the different ways of interpretation, I was trying to do that.
~Blessings to you and yours~
