REASON’S

God determines many times
The sorrow that will touch our lives
There is a reason why some live
And why some others don’t survive
There is a purpose to His way
A pattern to all He contrives
Some things in life are meant to be
That God need never justify

Would you ask a lily why
It wraps and drapes a petal so
Would you ask a blue jay why
It nuzzles beak into the snow
Did you ever wonder why
The speed of mountain water’s flow
I’ve never known a single soul
Who ever really had to know

It’s not our need to always know
The things that we don’t understand
We only know that God is here
In painful times to lend a hand
Joy and sorrow both are valid
Their dimension’s in God’s plan
It’s not our need to know the why
That’s all we need to understand

Did you ever wonder why
A sparrow sings the same old song
Or question whether Planet’s pathway
Through the sky is right or wrong
A rainbow comes and disappears
We cannot beg it stay too long
I never knew a single soul
To ask a stream where it belongs

Life’s mysteries are here to stay
Just live, unquestioned, each new day

Liz; this is wonderful! The wisdom and power of acceptance. You have said it so beautifully. Once we stop asking "why", peace reigns. Love, Ellie

Elizabeth, my friend~

Sometimes yes
and sometimes no
I wonder where
the stream does go.

Splashing through
it's current flowing
I merely follow
where it is going.

Knowing that I can't
stop the flow
I merely follow
where it does go.

I rest sometimes
among it's banks
and take a moment
to give God thanks.

For just the chance
to have sung
the songs of the stream
that from life's well have sprung.

*What a wonderful inspiration
you are with such beautiful words
from the well-spring of your life.
I love you, my friend.

Liz this is wonderful. Having true faith, enough not to question why, is sometimes the only way to live. God bless you...

Hi Elizabeth.

This poem is a wonderful definition of faith. It's hard to not reason about such great mysteries and just live in faith, but your poem's suggestion to just surrender is the answer (if you can). As Pascal said, "The heart has its reasons that reason cannot know." I look forward to reading more of your poetry.

I wonder about everything, and I tend to fight the things I have no power to change...but even though that is me, I still enjoyed this poem, Liz! God Bless.

Oh, Liz, instant tears.  I bow my head in awe of your peace.  Your accceptance.  What a poem - I don't even have a word for it - exquisite doesn't do it justice - nor does any other word I can think of.  Just thank you, my friend.  Thank you for sharing such a pure faith, and such a wonderful outlook on life.

How,

How do you write just so, so, so..? You are one very remarkable person... Yeah... and you can believe "God is watching from a distance; yet too, He is a LOT closer than any of us perceive." And darnit Liz, I'm again so lost for words. Your heart has surely touched mine and Rosemary's... God bless you for such a sharing...

All of your comments are so very beautiful and I thank you all for your resposes. It is very warming.
To Rosemary and Lucky, I don't even know what to say. You two are an inspiration to us all, and such words from you do humble me so.
Marge, thanks for the lovely poem. Your responses are incredible

This is very comforting and beautifully done, Elizabeth. I found more peace in my life when I stopped asking 'why'. Some things we will never have an answer to. You've expressed that very well in this.

Liz, this poem is so beautiful, and so very true. Yes, all you have to do it put your faith in Him, because He already knows the reason for everything that has happened and that will happen. I'm glad that you know this, and have shared it with us.

Why life unfolds as it does
Is not ours to know.
There is rhyme and reason to everything,
Sun and warmth or Cloud and snow.

Your poem is beautiful....so peaceful. My prayers are with you as always. Lovely, lovely poem.
