(I wrote this over 35 years ago)

Love's Strength

Our love will give us strength to endure all
those lonely years ahead till we are one.
Though each day a year without the sun
that shines but on stolen moments so small
which are far between and hard to recall.
And days are more unbearable alone.
Beloved this loneliness can't be done.
There should not be this loneliness, this wall
of miles that separates our hearts; Oh Fall!
and let us share oneness as yet unwon.
Love's strength cannot hold up this lonely wall,
but desires to destroy and see love's sun
bring light and love for eternal recall
of joy as love's strength dwells in the hearts of one.

I really enjoyed your poem, and the conflict of emotions. thanks for sharing.

They are not measured by the commitment of time.
Some emotions run too deep to be described by words,
Forgiveness and understanding-remain the most beautiful words ever heard.
