Did we meet in heaven?
Did we fall in love as angels?
Living in a world of our own creation
Walking by sunlight
                   Loving by starlight. . .

Such was our existance of love
Every day together better than the last
Until the time your soul was called back
Returning to earth
                  Renewing a life. . .

Now heaven may be paradise
But without you it was a hell
Eternity can be a very lonely place
Without a love
              Without a reason. . .

So, I struck a deal with them
"Send me back there too," I pleaded
"I know that I can find her again
Knowing her heart
                 Knowing her soul. . . "

They gave me some time, 30 years
Half a life to find my destiny, my fate
"Once you find her, you'll be together forever"
An eternity together
                    Forever in love. . .

I entered the world once again
A different name, a different life, once more
Wailing into the world, on a quest for eternal love
Life beginning again
                    Love seeking again. . .

Our lives began here seperately
You led a life of ease, mine not so easy
We both knew there was more, but where and when?
The answered question
                     The question answered. . .

Your life seemed to have purpose
You always knew what you wanted
You always seemed to find others to have in your life
To comfort you
              To hold you. . .

My life was just aimless wandering
Moving from town to town never staying
Never really knowing what I was looking for in life
Until one day
             One fateful day. . .

They told me I only had 2 years left
That my life hadn't been spent looking for you
But rather then take me back, they intervened
My prayers answered
                   My direction shown. . .

The instrument spoke to me
Showing me direction and purpose
It was right then I knew what I had to do
A song written
              Just for you. . .

A song for you my unknown muse
Given to me by the angels above
A song that made me famous but still
You weren't there
                 I had failed. . .

My 30th birthday, my time now over
Unknown to me, but somehow I knew
My life now empty, perhaps I'll take a walk
One last walk
             To find eternity. . .

You walk the other way
But then you turn around
You don't know why, you just do
Seeking to find
               Finding your heart. . .

I feel you there behind me
I turn around one last time
I see your face before me
Your beautiful face
                   As I remembered. . .

That's when they called me back. . .

They took me back to say
"Happy Birthday!  But you're not staying
Congratulations. . . you found her. . .
Together you'll be
                  For all eternity. . . "

A match truly. . .
                  . . . Made In Heaven. . .

A beautiful poem! I've heard that we were complete souls once, that the souls were torn in two and scattered throughout the universe..always seeking their 'soulmate'..

Wow Sven!  This is so beautiful and amazing.  You have such a way with words, and you write about a beautiful subject with eloquence and perfection.  This is definately one of my favourites!  You have such a talent when it comes to love.  I still believe that God creates soulmates for everyone, thanks for reminding us all of that hope.

Take care,

This is amazing Sven!  I am a firm believer in the rebirth of a soul and how soulmates are always meant to be together in any life.
Beautiful writing.

Thank you. . .

deVine. . . yes, I have heard that too, would that we could all find that "soulmate" right away. . . life would be different. . . but then, we'd have to pay attention. . .

Irie. . . thank you. . . I'm so glad that you liked it. . .

Melissa. . . *blushing* thank you so much!  Yes, I believe it too. . . and I'm glad that I reminded you. . .

Marina. . . I thought the reason that you posted twice was that you liked twice as much!!     Thank you my friend. . .

Kit. . . thank you, now if we could get more people to believe it!!  Glad that you liked. . .

For those of you who don't know, Made In Heaven is a wonderfully romantic movie with Kelly McGillis and Timothy Hutton. . . I would advise renting this movie this weekend and enjoying it. . .

Sven~
If the movie is half as good as your poem ... it would be a delight.
How moving ...
