To Dream of Honeyed Clover

I walked on callused road
following a curling thought
and I was drenched
my breath a torch
for I knew where I was going
thus far and my faith leaped
across the precipice
and then caught me firm and growing

How tall I seemed
so wrapped in the moon
and then kneeling
into the dirt of meadow
shimmering with fragility
caught in questioning
one small blade of grass

and indeed there were enchants
a heaven of diaphanous clouds
and one of them holding a rainbow
so dainty and perfectly colored
with no beginning or end
only this pure now

and still I chased some majesty
that called my name
and it was filled with words like stars
and it dripped sound
that found me and pierced my thirst
with honeyed clover
and spread me out
and I let it have its way with me
and plant this fertile place
with ancient harmony

and I thought this is the place
where I was born and will die
and then I was awake
and so caught in this delicious memory
that on my hands I held the fragrance
of the dark and loamy earth.

Martie~
My God ... you touch the earth
and the sky in your poetry.
And then ... you touch my heart.
The faith in this poem is so subtle ...
the fertile soil of your being is
so immersed in the fragrance of the
soil upon which your being was formed.

What a God-given talent you display.
Consistently turning the soil of your
poetry with another rich loaming.

Breathtaking beauty.

'tis not a poem to read that you have given us my friend, but a rose to be savored.

This was wonderfully picturesque Martie, but more so ... I felt I could smell the rich aroma of the meadow and earth through your words ... this was a treasure to read.

Best wishes,
/Kit

Well My Dear,

You've done it again... Today is Rosemary's parent's 50th. Your work brings much thought to mind.

Lucky--fifty is so many and yet time is not always as anxious to keep up with our wish for it to slow down or move faster...it is just a word...Love to you and Rosemary on such a special day.

Pepper--I am so glad to see you responding..I have missed you!

Beautiful.  Just beautiful.  There isn't another poet like you.  You paint the most lovely word pictures, filled with such poignant imagery and so much feeling.  You take me on emotional journeys that are wonderful to travel.  I just love your work!!

Martie, I couldn't attach my name beside Rosemary's   but that is, without question, exactly how I feel about your lovely writing. Thank you for this gifting today!

(and thank you, Rosemary, for just the right words...)

What an exquisite self portrait, romantic, passionate, endearing, warm, honest, beautiful and very very talented.
This dream, Martie, is you.
