        Face the Dawn

Here's to fresh beginnings,
   To the newness that they bring;
Such sweet rejuvenation,
   I have found in this, my spring.

A change is what I so desired,
   To find myself again;
So patiently I've waited,
   Searched for strength to come within.

And on this new horizon,
   As I face the coming dawn,
I'm thankful for the many trials
   That I was thrust upon.

For though I was perplexed at times,
   And shadows hid the light;
I've woken to a fresh new day,
   That followed those dark nights.

Revitalized and strengthened
   From my long and hazy sleep;
I look to better days ahead ...
   For promises to keep.

A pact I've made to me alone;
   I'll not give up this fight;
If I keep pushing onward,
   I will see the break of light.

So bring on all you can, dear world,
   I've woken from my sleep ...
You can't defeat me anymore;
   I shall not bow and weep.

I'll fight the darkest demons,
   I will climb the highest hills;
You've no idea just how strong
   I've fortified my will.

And though you tried to hold me down,
   I didn't flee or run;
I'll not be timid, shy or drawn ...
   I've only just begun.

So break of dawn, I welcome you,
   I'm ready to begin,
A brand new day with strength renewed ...
   I'm ready now to win!

Really enjoyed this poem, has a nice glowing summer's feel to it, a healthy dose of optimism. In otherwords fantastic.

Kit,

WOW!!  You write with such conviction at times...I admire that.  Power, hope, adversity, and strength of character come through loud and clear.  I love this one!!  Excellent writing, my friend.
